Mostly it's connecting a jump start battery the wrong way round, that will blow it no trouble.
Or a jammed starter motor, sprag clutch or transfer gear problem.
That overloads the circuit.
They normally don't just blow on their own.

Nearly right with the sprag gear. It'll b the transfer gears between the starter rotor and the sprag clutch.
Just about possible to replace by undoing the lower end of the front CCT tensioner blade, you have to remove the tensioner first.
