Engine Misfire on Tickover
Hi, went to take my '98 storm for it's MOT yesterday ( passed ok ), but i noticed when on tickover every minute or so the engine faultered for a split second. Don't think it was fuel it was just like a electrical cut out, on the road it was ok, i gave it a good blast ( legaly of course ) but the ...

Re: Hanging up the leathers eek
Well, I'm 58 next April and plan to do more and more touring in future (though not on the Storm TBH). Still love blatting around on the Storm embarrassing younger riders on sports bikes. Good on ya fella, i bought my Storm last August at the tender age of 65 :D . As the saying goes if you still got ...

Plastex, of course thanks for reminding me. I used it for mending a fairing mounting on my VFR a while ago. Should still have some somewhere, i will give it a try.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
[quote="Wicky"]?? There a small screw that allows the metal spring clip to hinge to clip the bulb in place. Is it the clip that has broken (same as any auto one) or the back of the headlight housing where it sits?
The headlight housing unfortunately.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Decided to fit an extra brilliant Headlamp Bulb & the wire clip broke out of the Headlamp housing while re-fitting, nuts.
Next weekend will take the unit out & try to repair it, unless someone on here has got a spare 98 model Headlamp Unit for a reasonable price of course.

Re: Austin Vince Adventure Motorcycle Talk
As some one who has been to a couple of Austin Vince's 'chat shows' in the past i would describe him as someone not to be missed. He is both very informative & hilariously funny, you are in for a good evening, enjoy.

To Silence or not to Silence.
So if i were to replace the Viper cans which were fitted on my 98' VTR when i bought it with the original Silencers, apart from the relief to my ears ( & pleasing the neighbours at 5am start ups  ) would i notice any difference in performance / mpg etc. would it perhaps run more like Mr. Honda ...

Oil & Tyres
Hi folks, as a new Storm owner could i ask which engine oil you prefer, the previous owner said he used normal 10/40 grade. In my trusty old VFR i use Castrol GPS 10/40 Semi Synthetic, so would it be OK to top up the Storm with this then change to Semi Synth. at the next oil change. ( Or keep to the ...

Re: First post from new owner.
Thanks for replies. Well i picked up the bike today, 60 mile trip home & everything seemed OK. This is the first big twin i have had ( i presently also own an early VFR750fk ) & fancied something slightly different ! First impression was what i had already foreseen, must fit some bar risers ( back ...

First post from new owner.
Hi everyone, i am looking forward to picking up my first VTR tomorrow, it is a 98' model with just 12,000 mls. on the clock. It has just been serviced so should be trouble free, ( obviously the tensioners which i have read about should be OK for a good few miles yet ! ), although any tips would be ...
