Re: squealing front brakes
Retainers may be weak but there are a few other things to think about. Are the callipers and discs mounted correctly? Be worth checking the bolts to ensure they are tight and the rotors are callipers are mounted correctly. Have you cooked the pads? If you've over heated the brakes then all the frict...

Re: SP1 Project
Hi Pete, Thanks for that, not an issue building the bike I've done a few now, just more of a case of if it's worth it. If it's a Storm with bigger balls then yes I think I'll like it lots. If the issues are fuelling and suspension then that can be over come, but I would like to try it in the rough f...

SP1 Project
Got a chance at a SP1 "project" not going into the why's and wherefores but its in several large lumps (it was dropped and the owner was going to do it, blah, blah blah) so I'm guessing there is a fair amount of small stuff missing. Thinking it could be a (very) long term project. Worth do...

Pull harder
Re: debaffle
I didn't fully de-baffle the cans on my storm, I just drilled 4 10mm holes at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions. I got a deeper sound with out it beeing too loud, a good compromise I thought.
I've just done a similar thing on the SV which gives a similar result; "which is nice"

Re: MGP & BSB
It's easy, ignore MotoGP it's dull, just watch the Moto2 and Moto3 races and then take a look at BSB, you just have to it's at Brands!
Re: Fork oil
Just as a word of warning, When I did mine and the old oil was black as, so I decided to strip the forks and was glad I did, they were full of gunk. I don't think it had ever been done. It may be worth stripping the forks on a bike of this age if it's not been done in the past few years and check th...

Re: Airbox backfire.
To be honest I quite liked it on the Storm, my TransAlp 650 did it and my SV1000S (injected) does it. My mates TL1000s and his TL1000R do it, thought the better half's Ducati M750 Monster doesn't, I think it's a Jap Vee Twin thing. I did a full service on the my (standard can's and intake) Storm (wh...

Re: cleaning a small rusty fuel tank?
Bought some stuff from Halfords (no really!) a few years ago and it's great, just don't mix it as it says, I trebled the mix and it worked great. Can't remember what it's called now but worth a look
