Re: fork springs (again)

Re WP springs, i have a set here (progressive) they were fitted to my old firestorm for one ride then removed and replaced with linear ones. They have a bit of light surface rust where they've been sitting in the garage but they should clean up ok which i'll be doing.. If anyone wants them make me a...

Re: fork springs (again)

I don't think you need a revalve to get the forks good enough, Linear springs will cost you around £90-100, spacers probably nothing as you could make your own..Stick with your 10wt and 140mm air gap as a starter, that way you can just carefully remove the old springs losing as little oil as possib...

Re: fork springs (again)

I found setting the rebound damping correctly is not something to be over looked. It needs to be set at the fastest possible return (when you push down on the handlebars and allow the front end to return on it's own), but under control. Somewhere around one full turn out from fully in, give or take...

Re: bmw hotrod project

Very Nice collection 8) I did my 1230 popup well before the the days of internet, had to learn as i went. Knowledge learnt then now often helps others (on the internet, lol) That frame looks a bit like a Martec ?, swingarm looks like it was done a bit later ?, just guessing, tasty special though. Be...

Re: bmw hotrod project

Interesting project, but an EFE headlight on a winter hack 8O It must be worth more than the bike  Think it should be in my garage really, would be handy as a spare

Re: fork springs (again)

In my last firestorm i had 0.875 linear springs with 10wt oil and a 140mm air gap, it was a massive improvement, my weight at the time was 12.5 stone, but i do like the front to be firm, i reckon this set up with your weight will be about right for road and track day too if you want to do them. the ...

Re: Storm v Mille

I think some of you need glasses  IT's a MILLE ! Look at the frame it's Mille, you can see the rad fan in one shot, it's a mille, the bodywork fits and lines up perfectly, it's a mille.... A gilera ?, So in 2004 Gilera would have released a new 600cc bike in a complete 1998-99 RSV chassis, that...

Re: Wheelies

I used to find the firestorm to be a really good wheelie bike, nice low c of g, short shift to 2nd take it to about 45mph use the clutch, whack the throttle open and big tug on bars and up she comes, when nicely up snick to 3rd and control on the throttle :) Tip, when it's coming down grab the next ...

Re: Storm v Mille

Althoug it looks oddly small in the picture it is a Mille, definately not an RS250, do a google image search and you'll see the frame and arm are different.. Looks like it's got the later 01> front calipers though

Re: Dyno k&n jets

Fitting the dynojet kits not that bad, bit of a pain getting carbs back on and you have to be carefull drilling the slides, iirc the kit supplies 3 jet sizes, think i used the middle size and the bike ran spot on. Was running DJ kit, K&N filter and Arrow cans, didn't need to spend money on dyno ...

Re: Storm v Mille

Nothing really wrong with the RSV Mille as far as reliability goes, suspension links ??, a few isolated cases around the world on the 04 onwards, people do have problems with the sprag clutch, but thats only because they don'tknow how to start them, they're a high compression twin, if they don't fir...
