Re: Removing Seat Without a Key?

Thanks for all the input guys, I think I will need to try one of those ideas. The situation is pretty frustrating, having bought the bike, insured it, arranged all the transport and shipping, only to be told they won't deliver the bike here, because the battery is connected!!!! Grrrrrrrrr!

Removing Seat Without a Key?

My VTR is in the process of being shipped over from the UK to Spain but it's hit a snag, it arrived at the shipping company yesterday and the shipping company, are refusing to ship/store it because the battery is still connected! This wouldn't be such a problem but I'm not in the UK and the key to l...

Re: Adding a photo?

Thanks Seb for all the info and yes Carl - those are the original CTT's, the bike has only done 15k but I need to look into getting them replaced with MCCT's within the next 12 months, I will probably be looking to get bags of advice from this site when I do :)

Re: Tail Tidy

Thanks Tony.mon, it's hard to visualise how much I need to cut away until the bike arrives and I can see what's in front of me, when you mention an undertray was it anything like this? http://www.mototeckinnovation.com/produ ... =96&page=1

Re: Tail Tidy

This is the unit I was thinking of fitting http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TAIL-TIDY-stage-2-HONDA-VTR-1000-F-Firestorm-/360469666420?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item53edaa9a74#ht_1888wt_1413 The plan is to fit a smaller number plate 7 x 5.5 [should get away with it where I live] but I'm a little conc...

Tail Tidy

Hopefully my Firestorm should be delivered next week In preparation I'm considering ordering a tail tidy, I've noticed on ebay the tail tidy on offer mentions cutting and fitting. Has anyone fitted one of these? I fitted a tail tidy to my Speed Triple and it was a straight forward bolt on exchange. ...

Re: Black Frame

I'm no expert on powder coating but I wouldn't expect masking tape to survive the heat process. Powder Coating is capable of melting the VIN plate itself.

Having said that - I stand to be corrected, as in truth - I know Jack S*** about Powder Coating lol

Re: Black Frame

Try giving them a call or e-mail they should be able to point you in the right direction of a supplier. All the bikes I have restored/rebuilt have had metal decals with the numbers on, Yamaha FS1-E, Suzuki GT250M, TS250M, TS50x. The headstock stamped in number is a whole different can of worms with...

Re: Black Frame

Yep, good point Carl, it's something I hadn't considered. I contacted Windridge Coatings Ltd and asked them about the point Carl raised, their reply regarding the VIN plate during coating is below - "Some come off with gentle heat. Some riveted either way it needs to be removed. The early proce...

Re: Black Frame

Thanks for the pics Lloydie.

I reckon on a black Storm, the black frame would look even better!

Next question - Who has had their frame out? and how difficult was it?

If I attempt it myself, I will need to take a digi photo at every step, so I can remember to put everything back
