Bleeding Brakes

Ok I'm cheating a little here as this question isn't about my FireStorm but my daughters Honda XR 125 {I hope that's okay? and I'm assuming this question could apply to a FireStorm] The bike has been standing for 2 or 3 years and the front brake calliper was totally seized and corroded, so Ive repla...

Re: Immobiliser Problem

Thanks CheekyKev I agree with you completely - they are a pain in the butt and I'd rather be rid of it But being a lazy Hombre......... I was just looking for an easy option. I reckon bolting a new [secondhand) unit on could be done in under 30 mins Disconnecting 13 cables and making reconnections -...

Re: Immobiliser Problem

Thanks for all the helpful info I have a few days off next week so need to tackle it One other option which came to mind - was buying a second hand unit - disconnecting the cables from the secondhand one at the block connection and bolting the unit on as a straight replacement For £20 it has to be w...

Re: Immobiliser Problem

Managed to find this video which explains it - looks like 13 wires coming from the unit but 3 [pairs] are the boys to reconnect - What can possibly go wrong? ha! Watch this space! :cool2

Re: Immobiliser Problem

Hi, Thanks for the replies I've tried 2 newer batteries - plus the original but still nothing To be honest most bikes here in Spain get nicked by being thrown in the back of a van - So I've never seen it as much of a deterrent - Just a pain in the butt I would gladly disconnect it but is it as simpl...

Immobiliser Problem

I seem to have a problem with my Immobiliser It was already installed on the bike when I bought it - So in all honesty I know very little about it - I'd rather the bike didn't have it at all as it has generally been a pain in the butt But now the button on the ignition key fails to make contact [Ind...

Re: Fan?

Thanks for all your help guys - I will do a voltage test on the wiring and if I can't get over the problem, I might try a [fan] switch on the handlebars It's something I need to get sorted as I live in Spain and the old CB has no engine cooling fins, I also get caught up in traffic at the Spanish/Gi...

Fan?

A bit of a cheeky question this one because it's not on my FireStorm but on my 1993 CB1000 Super Four but I guess the same would apply to a Storm as it's a bit of a generic question My fan doesn't appear to be coming on - I changed the original fan switch when the fan stopped working, fitted a cheap...

Re: Carb Balancing?

I did actually swap the tubes from one to another and then swapped over from gauge 1 & 2 to 3 & 4 Not because I was being clever but mainly to check this new bit of kit [vacuum gauges] were fully working, along with the vacuum restriction valves - not sure that's the right term? but each gauge has a...

Sponge Air Filters?

I noticed the two small sponge-type air filters inside my air box are disintegrating

Does anyone have any idea what they are called - I can't find any on ebay

Re: Carb Balancing?

Big thanks for the info and photos which was a huge help The job was relatively easy apart from trying to get the adaptor into the front port which was a bit tricky It turns out both carbs were pretty much spot on, perhaps a difference of 0.5 - 1.0 - it only took the smallest of tweaks to get them b...

Carb Balancing?

Some kind person has given me a carb vacuum synchronising kit [4 gauges] and a portable 1 litre fuel tank Great I thought, I'll check the carb balancing on my storm this afternoon But I'm trying to read up on it and I'm getting conflicting views and getting confused If anyone can explain in real bas...

Re: Intermittent 1 - 2 sec loss of power SP1

Huge thanks for all the helpful replies. I also found Benny's thread interesting as I have also swapped my Storm battery over to the SP1 on a couple of occasions. Anyway I made a mental list of all your suggestions and started with what sounded the easiest one first - 'loose Power Commander connecti...
