Re: Another year, another starter motor....

What's been happening is, when I try to start it it's very lethargic, as if the battery is flat. Then I press it a few more times and it starts to speed up, not slow down as a dead battery would, until it eventually fires. Everytime I've had symptoms like these I checked the battery & the reg re...

Re: Another year, another starter motor....

Battery is definitely ok, had it on trickle charge over the weekend. When I put it on charge it went to maintain cycle straight away.
My problem could be I work nights, so trying to start it in the cold all the time cannot be helping

Re: Another year, another starter motor....

So I've been procrastinating all morning. Motorbike has exhibited signs all week of it needing the starter motor replacing, I have a spare one sat here anyway from the last time it gave up so eventually I got all the tools together to go out & do it. Thought I'd give the starter a prod just to s...

Another year, another starter motor....

My biggest consumable on my bike seems to be starter motors, I think this one has lasted two years. It's getting so I recognise the symptoms straight away now. It must be all the salt & sh1t that gets flung at it during these Autumn/Winter months. I live out in the middle of the countryside &...

Sidestand anyone? (another one, I know)

Any straight standard sidestand available? Went to my bike after work last night & mine appears to have bent during the night. How the feck it did that I don't know, but now it's leaning more to the left than the Labour party has done in years, bit concerned it may break and/or topple over (the ...

Re: Ebay Finds (unusal/cheap/rare/or just good value)

Not really an ebay find as such, as it's my listing (sorry if it's in the wrong place but the sales/wants thread suggests a fixed price listing). Quite rare trousers, good for touring or just those rare hot days where you wish you could wear shorts but sense tells you to wear armoured trousers on th...

Re: What's my blinking problem?

Have you checked your indicator wiring to make sure you don't have a short and one of the connectors is grounding to the frame or a bare wire? I hadn't, but I shall once my week of night shifts ends, it's just odd it's only on the left and over 4k rpm My thinking is this and it might be total baldr...

Re: What's my blinking problem?

My KTM did similar things. Filament bulbs. Put resistors in series and it was fixed. I used these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ryde-Motorcycle-LED-Indicator-Resistors/dp/B00HEHTEW2 These are for LEDs, but they worked with your non-leds? May be worth a punt for a fiver if checking for a short doesn't co...

Nope, don't have LED indicators, just mini ones with filament bulbs in. It only happens above 4000rpm and only on the left

What's my blinking problem?

Hi all, a curious problem here. As I was coming off the motorway this morning doing 65 ish my left indicator was blinking at almost double speed. At first I thought the rear bulb had blown but as it was darkish I could see in my mirrors that it hadn't. Now here's the confusing bit. As I slowed down ...
