Re: car drivers

I have had several very close calls lately. It seems as if drivers are dumbing down and expect their autos to do everything for them. Right after I bought my Hawk, a man of ethnicity that of a group not used to driving pulled up behind me. He didn't like that I was in front of him so he decided to p...

Re: Religion ??

Why are these Aliens abducting fat arsed Americans and then examining them with anal probes? Are the Aliens gay? Hmmmm I suspect an Alien conspiracy to corrupt our children and turn them all gay. I feel a strongly worded letter to the Daily Mail coming on. Do you think Jimmy was an Alien? wait! I'm...

a tip over and smash

hello all! Been beautiful fall weather here in San Francisco, great riding weather before the rain sets in. Even then there are days to ride even if they are cold ones in the fog. Last week I had a knock over. My beautiful hawk got tipped over and it fell into a van so the wind screen got smashed an...

Re: making the bike my own

thanks for the pics, I need to do the same. My bird is, RED, what a surprise! I haven't posted pix because I figure they all look the same at first. I haven't done hawks mod yet but I have all the parts. Need to do the PAIR too. This is the funnest bike I've had so far. I really loved my '70 Triumph...

Re: Fork brace

not too sure if it's an issue with the VTR but I'd be very concerned with fork stiction using fork braces. Easy to check. Lift up on front end and let it go down again. Forks should return to same position smoothly. Push down and pump several times, should return to same position smoothly. If you ha...

making the bike my own

it's been a while so I thought I'd come by and check in. I've been busy with my VTR. I did the TPS adjustment and have the machine running cleanly at low rpm in 1st and 2nd gear. I got the cam chain tensioners in and adjusted, must be correctly as the chain isn't rattling and it hasn't jumped a gear...

Re: They come, they go...a reflection

I may be new but this is a great forum and so far a great bunch of riders. As long as I have my VTR I'll be here, posting and causing trouble!

Re: TPS

Now that I'v done the TPS, I'm going after the CCT's tomorrow. A fellow rider had the worst happen to his newly purchased VTR with low miles, 19000 mi. He hasn't even paid it off and now he has a top end rebuild on his hands. It got me off my lard butt and doing the job I've been putting off.

Re: recieved a letter from the defendent

I'll give my bike an oil change in your honor. It's always that way, the slime must try to get out of it even after nearly killing some one. I hope you have a lawyer who is scummier and nastier than the others. Solicitors you call them. Still, they are bottom feeders of the lowest degree so you must...

Re: TPS

Yes, I am really surprised that the little adjustment can make such a difference and the bike runs a lot better, AND it's free! My VTR really idles a lot smoother and is almost another bike pulling 1st through 2nd. Makes it easier to ride around the city where I rarely get to use 3rd. The lower gear...

Re: TPS

Say what :confused Just saying I can vouch for it as it works. I had slimier problems when I first got my VTR. When I adjusted the TPS it worked. It does seem to not work so well for some people, but I suspect they have other issues as well like carb mixture or jetting. If your referring to the air...

Re: TPS

I can vouch for the TPS helping with those symptoms you described http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25801#p222504 I've been saying it for ages that it helps with the general smooth running. So you going for Hawks carb set up then. Just make sure you have an original air filter. ...
