Re: CBR400 fork brace on VTR?

I don't have the bike with me atm to measure! It appears though that other CBR400 braces are 190mm centre-to-centre. Further googling backs 192mm up for the VTR... It's only 2mm out, so slotted holes and some fettling could get it happy I suppose! Found some cheaper ones for a tenner so might give i...

CBR400 fork brace on VTR?

Hey all, I've found a CBR400 (92-98) fork brace on eBay for £12.59... anyone know if it'll fit the VTR forks? Google's not helping much - one source will say the axle's a different width, another says they're the same.... I think the fork diameter is the same though. Planning on getting CBR F4i cali...

30k Servicing

Hi all. I got my paws on a storm last year and it's been a fantastic bike (since replacing the CCTs), but it's coming up to 30k miles and has a dubious service history. I've replaced the filters, fluids and plugs, and take good care of it day-to-day. I'm looking at doing a good overhaul during the w...

Re: How to upgrade from a 12ah battery?

Try a gel-type battery, such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dynavolt-MG12BS-Sealed-Gel-Battery-MG12-BS-YTX12BS-/310359386321?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4842dc68d1 - (note, this may not be the correct part number for a 'Storm, I'm going from memory and it's hazy :P ) My old lead-acid battery s...

Re: Rear grab rail / handles

I've seen a storm or two with side handles parked at the local bike meets, but I've yet to find the owners to ask about them!

I can't however remember how they were mounted or if they were custom / modified...

Rear grab rail / handles

Hey, I've seen the Renntec grab rails available on eBay etc, but I can only find rear rails... eg http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENNTEC-BLACK-PILLION-GRABRAIL-GRAB-RAIL-HANDLE-HONDA-VTR1000-FIRESTORM-97-01-/360484010050?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item53ee857842#ht_1472wt_1037 Anyone know of any sid...

Re: What do you think of this steering damper?

IMO you get what you pay for, and there's a reason most dampers are £100+. That being said, I've used Neverland (that seller) for a few bits before and they've been pretty good! If you check their other items they have different colours too. Thing that worries me is not only no instructions, but app...

Re: will it Fail or Pass M.O.T ??

As mentioned, depends on the tester at the end of the day!

Old CBR had one marked not for road use, covered it up with some electrical tape and the tester noticed, laughed and commented on how they're loud bikes anyway and passed it.

Re: Iridium Spark Plug Life

Just got mine for £6 a plug on eBay, and a previous set lasted me around 10k on the CBR before it started lurching about. I'd change them now if I were you! The science is there for iridium plugs - the fuel's only got a split-second per cycle to ignite, and the stronger the spark the quicker it igni...

Re: Hi and help!!

Know the alarm's make/model? That'd help to find some specific instructions! I used to have a Hawk one that was awesome, when it worked! But sometimes it'd kick the immobiliser on while I was riding.... My advice from that - rip it out. It's likely to be wired into the ignition switch, somewhere in ...

Re: Electrical fault

I'm no expert in bike electrics but my CBR had a similar fault after fitting LED indicators. It was caused by the previous owner's love for twisting wires together and taping it up with masking tape and essentially the headlamp circuit shorting into the indicator circuit after I'd disturbed the wiri...

Re: Misfiring / clanking, possible cam timing problems...

Ok I'll get the Scottoiler sorted then :) When you set the tension on the CCTs, did you set it to 7mm deflection or slack? EG from its middle position, was it 7mm or 3mm to it's maximum stretch? 7mm from one max to the other, or from middle to max about 3mm. Did around 90 miles today and purring lik...
