Took her for a ride the other day and did about 75miles...all good no issues at all. Very lucky.
To all those who have a Firestorm you really should get those CCT's changed for new ones with stopper mod or manuals. Don't let the old ones wreck your engine.
What an underrated bike the Firestorm is.

Re: CCT Failure
So last night I finally managed to get everything back together after having to remove the airbox again because I forgot to connect the throttle cables. That's probably the fiddliest part of doing this, trying to connect the two breather pipes at the front left of the box and get the spring clip on....

No you don't..you get a green haired Umpa Lumpa for the night and a blow up doll of the late and fantastic Gene Wilder.

Re: 995cc or 996cc?
I've done some research on this and apparently Honda did make 5 995cc VTR1000F bikes..each has a Golden Ticket hidden somewhere within it. This ticket allows you to tour the Honda HRC factory and be given lots of amazing parts for your Firestorm (Superhawk if in the US). Greedy, arrogant, spoilt win...

995cc or 996cc?
Whilst rebuilding my bike after CCT replacement this evening I noticed on the side of the front cylinder 995cm3..everywhere else states that the Firestorm is 996cm3..did I read it wrong? I know that 1cc would make all the difference so I'm wondering if this is why I can't get mine to wheelie..I have...

CCT Metal Cap
If anyone has a spare cap (the metal part on the end) I would be grateful.

Re: CCT Failure
Posted at the same time Tony..you're right, I couldn't see any sign of it down in the engine and I never heard anything falling down when I took it out.
If anyone has a spare one I'd be very grateful.
The rear CCT does have a cap on it, I can see it.

Re: CCT Failure
Oh dear god! Mine must have fallen off and gone down into the crank case. What a royal pain in the ass. Had a look at the old CCT and it looks like there was no cap! There is an obvious indent in the rubber thing which matches the part you can see through the CCT hole on the chain guide. https://img...

Re: CCT Failure
Anyone? What is this metal cap? Has mine fallen off down into the engine..how does it fit to a domed rubber bung thing anyway? (11) Clean off mating surfaces, fit new gasket and new CCT, (they come already retracted) once fully tightened up you can release the CCT plunger making sure it unwinds slow...

Re: CCT Failure
There should be a metal cap on the end of the old OEM CCT - check it's not stuck in the hole if it didn't come out with the original CCT. Instead of a gasket (seperate part no.) you can use instant silicone gasket. Or simply order a pair from Honda. Instructions for installing are in the workshop k...

Re: CCT Failure
New CCT's arrived with no new gasket! , I can't find any info on how to put these in , do you just bolt them in and take the wee tool out and put the old bolt and washer back in? They do have the black rubber lump on the end, I thought you were supposed to take that off the old ones.

Re: CCT Failure
Done a valve clearance check and they appear to be spot on! Does this mean it's likely the valves are OK? I was thinking maybe I should get a compression tester and check that way too before I put it all back together.
