Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Well, the speedohealer works on my car, but it's linear. It didn't work on my motorcycle (where I need it) so I gave up, I cannot change the code myself.. I never had the "will" of learning how to program PIC's (tried it though). Two options: Buy one for 80 euro (110 dollar) or look for an...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Please also look at the original file, compared to that, you only need the +5v to the pic, the rest is optional and I've been told it makes is safer / more stable. You can download the hex by clicking right and save as or just open it and copy paste to a notepad txt file, just rename it to hex and i...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

It's not all complete, but here is a starter:

If you know what you're talking about and have suggestions, please share them!
Also feel free to edit the schematic, make it smaller, optimize the layout etc.

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

I don't expect too much interest.. For a small fee I can program and ship the chips if wanted. though it didn't work out for me earlier, I maybe could make a few. But it's really time consuming to manually make them, it often costs me money. I'll have to think about it, your also stuck with warrenty...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

After a good tip I made a +5v to pin 14, VDD and the program is now running on the board! It's in test mode (all dip on) and the LED is blinking! I have an old instrumentcluster of my Diversion 900 that I will hook up. After confirmation I will make a new schematic (lot of work for someone who never...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Thanks, will make a how-to if succesfull.
I've just been pointed out that the chip doesn't have a powerfeed, I have to solder a 5v lead to pin 14.
Hope that does the trick or else I have a long way to go.

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Sadly I'm still just a beginner.. Google is my friend, but google won't tell me if the code is correct ;) I can't make anything of it. Maybe the coding is good but the hardware layout or my soldering isn't good. I don't have a test sequence for voltages/resistance like for example: " measure be...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

I re-compiled the HEX with MPLAB IDE and ended up with exactly the same HEX as provided here.
So that's not the problem..

It must be either in the HW or in the SW that it doesn't work.
At least I can modify and convert to HEX now, again something learned

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Is someone willing to send me the e-mail address of Phil? Or send him a PM? I'm stuck... Can't read/edit C+. I have power, I also believe the 16F88 is doing SOMETHING.. The LED only get's a few mV and I dob't have a scope to bench check the output. Will post feedback offcourse! You can reach me at a...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

For future interest: I ordered the parts at eoo-bv.nl (yes it's Dutch), they are the cheapest arround and they can deliver allmost everything out of stock. This is the PIC programmer I made, it's an ICSP (In Circuit Serial Programmer): http://www.sanderlahaije.nl/tijdelijk/icsp/icsp_jdm.jpg I have u...

Re: DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

Can someone tell me which capacitors are used? 100nF 100V etc.? I can't find the maplin order numbers anymore except for the 0,1pF (=1nF?) 100V RA39N. I would like to build this speedo corrector for my DL1000 V-Strom. All components are available but I don't have much knownledge on circuits and comp...
