Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Just got the bike back - the mechanic explained that he could not find anything obvious, so went round all the connectors using brake cleaner (not fluid as I had said above|) - I thought switch cleaner was good enough! However he did say that I may have overdone the WD40 together with a battery not...

Thanks for this - pray for sun next week, esp in lancs and yorkshire for a good run out! GWicky wrote:Good to hear you're up and running after the vexing problem/s.

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Roger, I'm no BSB follower, but apparently Wilson is struggling to qualify at the moment - the usual thing of a young rider living hand to mouth for race parts - tough for the lower order Graham

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Had a call earlier this evening, and the mechanic simply said listen to this - and he fired up the bike - and it sounded fine - I am going to have a full chat with him on monday, as he is away supporting a BSB rider, but he did say he cleaned the connections with brake fluid. I said that I had soak...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Well I for one would like to know exactly where the issue is/was. Contact cleaner would be the best as it's designed for that purpose and then a dab of dielectric grease. Vaseline does the trick. I wonder if the original problem was in the loom. You have then changed the loom for a used unknown loo...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Me what did I do ? It's all Carl's fault Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You cant get out of this one - I think the basics of connection cleaning and methodical progression was one yours - but to be honest I dont care as long as the b.... thing works as it should esp as the better weather is com...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Great responses - thanks - the thing that gets me is that the rear has been consistently good, and only the front breaks down. I came to the same conclusion as Carl and so an engine tuner is going to take the bike, and as he is still doing his college course I am hoping he has access to better diagn...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Did you actually try the rear HT coil (the one on the bike that is showing a good spark) on the front cylinder :?: I realise you say you swapped coils, but was that for a spare 2nd hand coil :?: Chris. Chris Thanks for this. Just on my way out so this is short - I know I tried the spare on the back ...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Wow this gets stranger and stranger. Could a weak Ignition Triger Voltage output lead to a low Converter output? Not sure but if there is a big spike this may damage the converter unit which bring me onto you next question. has anyone been able to reliably measure the trigger and converter output v...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
SO here's a thing. I've now changed the wiring harness - cleaned all contacts etc - and on first start the front sparked well, but then became erratic and now has died completely. The rear keeps sparking well. I have not been able to reliably measure the ignition trigger or converter output voltages...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
It'll probably be a fractured lead issue somewhere, giving intermittent continuity. Using your DVM what is the resistance between the battery earth terminal and each cylinder head? thanks for this - Earthing has been well tested, and not a problem - and to make sure when I am testing I use jump lea...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
Really appreciate the recent posts. Got fed up with the honda so took a bike that works out for a spin over the Yorkshire Dales and Devils Bridge - as always coming back with a smile! but no VTRs at Devils Bridge to have a chat! I'm almost at the point of changing the harness Lloydie but determined ...

Re: No Spark-No Go + massive frustration!
All that is left is going back to the basics. I know you say you have checked all this but plug, lead, coil. Work your way backwards. I'm at a loss here. Something has got missed amongst the checks along the line. - (:-}) Good advice Carl, and I'm going to make up a peak voltage adapter, an...
