Re: Cutting out on long sweeping left bends
That sounds convincing about the pipes as firing her up again after stopping for a minute and the fault goes. I forgot to mention that if “on a track” and you take her above 120 the sane fault is induced and all power is lost until you get down to about 50 then she starts picking up again. I’m told ...

Cutting out on long sweeping left bends
Hi guys need some help please for a 1999 vtr1000f. I have running troubles with the bike which I’ve had sorted but now I have an odd fault. I’ve had CCTs replaced and timing is spot on. I’ve had the carbs off cleaned and set up my local garage and I replaced the rectifier. The bike generally runs go...

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
No idea Iv'e always done my own work. Ring around and get some quotes. A dyno tech will get things perfect but they have to know how to work with carbs. That IMO would be better than a local garage mechanic uneless they either have a dyno or take it to a dyno and verify things on that. Cheers mate ...

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
While your in there you may as well fit some carb balancing vaccum lines. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18430 Due to lack of time as I’m restoring my home with the mrs (old cottage needing lots)I decided I would just pay someone to do it, begrudgingly. I’ve just come back f...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)
I thought it was about time this thread was awakened and built upon. :biggrin Thanks for your kind words Roger that is actually quite something to hear that from you. It's only from bits I have had to learn for myself from research and put together. one question - what is the base settings for the ...

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
Yes that's it. Not easy to get to with the carbs mounted to the bike especially the rear. With one snapped off I can only assume that it had been overtightened which is not good as it can damage the seat. You should have a spring, washer and rubber O ring on the end of the screw. Sometimes when you...

Re: Pilot Screw Adjustment.
No one appears to have noticed this in my previous post.... http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/part ... 084220201/ Also, am I to assume nobody knows the definitive answer as to why go through the idle drop procedure, only to end up at the same point in the end ( 1 turn out on front, 1.25 rear ) htt...

Re: Chain tensioners
The rear chain I managed to set perfectly in the end. When doing the front chain initially the inlet cam sat slightly lower (inside the head) but all other marks on this side were perfect. So we adjusted the inlet sprocket 1 tooth. It runs but quieter and is a bit flat under load. So it's back out w...

Re: Chain tensioners
I shall check it out when I get the chance on Friday night. I've done hundreds of cam belts in my time but chains, not so many and always on cars so it's a learning curve for me. I tried to slip the chain off and correct it with only the cam cover off. What a pain that is lol Sent from my iPhone usi...

I just tucked her away hopefully that's what it might bebigbadjonno wrote:Did you prep it for hibernation or did you just bung it in the shed for 5 months?
Carb could be gunged up from standing if you didn't drain the float bowls.

Out from hibernation and died
So I get the bike out of the garage, bit of choke and she roars into life. I take her for a spin to Milton Keynes, slowing down for a roundabout and She lost a cylinder. Throttle it up a bit and she bangs or muscles through but really jerky. She just had £14 of fresh fuel from my usual place so I'm ...
