Re: TodaysTV

I thought top gear was pants, chris was trying to hard, matt was ok tho. as mac said they made it to samey, they had a good chance to try something new but failed imho..... +1 I don't know the "ins and outs" of why that might be, but it was a golden opportunity missed IMO. May...

Re: Breakdown cover!

I'm with MCE and have their breakdown cover, complete and utter waste of time, after 40 mins waiting on someone even answering the bloody call I gave up and got recovered by a local guy Funnily enough I broke down today. Middle o nowhere. Fried battery, so game over. I'm with mce. I know I have bre...

Re: ram air

I'm another one who will say it is not worth the effort to get it to work. With that I can pass on one jetting tip. One of the things they did on the ram air nike was plug the air bleed and run smaller main jets. This was done because the changing pressure in the airbox played havoc with the CV car...

Re: ram air

Extruded Tupperware boxes can be used to enter the exclusive Club 18-30 (the amount of extra horsies the ram air mod can give) be prepared to find a dyno with fans to mimic +100mph head wind for when setting up the jetting. You're saying 18 to 30 can be had from ram air alone? In other words from t...

Re: ram air

To me the limiting factor is the snorkel- if you measure the cross-sectional area it is smaller than the intake stack area, and without ram-air it won't flow enough air unless forced air is used. The design is such that the air is drawn in from behind the oil cooler and right on top of a hot engine...

Re: What's in a noise?

PAIR is a Pulsed Air Injection, draws clean air from the air box through reed valves in to the exhaust post combustion which ignites any unburnt fuel, it's an emissions thing.. on a storm you can flip the reeds over remove hoses and blank off. . Worth knowing, cheers. Mine's an 02. Haven't looked i...

Re: timing rt mark and piston position

I'm not a mechanic and have no experience of the storm, but I seem to recall from the days when I used to set the points up on various engines, one Mark was for cam timing and the other was for ignition timing. So maybe the mark you are describing is for ignition? Dunno, just a thought.
