Mph clocks were reading within 10 percent of sat-nav speeds so I was happy enough with that. I haven't read those mod instructions well enough, but might give it a go if appropriate.
Clocks. It's the flippin' clocks. I had a moment of clarity yesterday, rare but welcome! There's no off switch for the lights so it's probably a parallel import but it's got mph clocks on it. Among the box of odds and sods I got with it was a set of the nastiest, most corroded kph clocks you can ...
You're right, it's possible I may have nothing better to do than make up my workshop antics, however life's too short and I JUST WANT MY BIKE TO WORK!!!!!! I believe that I've followed Cybercarls instructions on checking the timing to the letter in the first place and there's no indication of ...
The original position is where they were when I bought the bike. As per directions earlier in this thread I had removed the rear cams, rotated the crank 1 turn and replaced the cams in the TDC position in an attempt to cure the "180 degree out" issue. Unfortunately no joy so I've returned everything ...
Yes, I checked the fuel tap diaphragm. I shone a bright light behind it ( well, my Mrs did) and couldn't see any holes either side.
How do we check our pulse generators then?
Is there a suicidal emoji? Air box is OK for now. Good old Araldite. I can pick up a spare from the bay of e sometime. I ran the bike with the carbs fitted properly with no improvement so I've returned the rear cylinder cams to their original position- still no better. Assuming the carbs will now be ...
Yes, I have become "intimate" with my bike to say the least! Only re-set the rear cylinder Tony, although I have to say it sounded and felt better despite the miss-fire today. I'll make it all air tight tomorrow and see what happens. As you say, I'm fairly adept at fiddling with the timing so ...
Ever had one of those days? Having failed with the cams I've gone back to look at everything else again, clearly I've missed something. The screws holding the velocity stacks were on their last legs and I really should have replaced them. I didn't. Now I've rounded 2 off. Drilled them but ended up ...
The fuel tap vacuum hose and diaphragms check out OK.
It's on it's second set of carbs and has the same symptoms and I'd hope not to have the same fault on both sets of carbs, but you never know so I guess it's carbs off again to check out the diaphragms. Oh joy!
Thanks for all the advice and apologies for being a pain in the elbow, but this is driving me crackers. I've checked the timing once more and I'm happy that it's actually correct. Perhaps silly, but I've been checking the running with no airbox or filter on so I could access the carbs and check for ...
OK, I've followed Roger's instructions to , I think, the letter. Timing mark FT lined up, the cam marks on the front cylinder line up with the cylinder head. FE at the front and FI at the rear. Cam lobes are pointing away from each other. Turned the crank anti clock 270 degrees until RT lines up ...
That's a generous offer Tony, thanks. It's just that you live flippin miles away! Roger's sent me directions to sort it out which are straight forward enough so I'll give them a crack. It's stripped down as far as the carbs / cam covers anyway. Never say never though, I can get to Kent at 4500rpm ...
