Front CCT access

Does anyone have any nifty method for being able to adjust the front CCT considering that the coolant hose blocks access to it? Or do I need to remove the tank, airbox etc?

Re: Been an absolute div

Just an update on this: no NIP has arrived since 9 December when the above encounters occurred so I think it's safe to say that I've got away with the camera van. The operator obviously wasn't fast enough and/or was too distracted clocking the rubbish lorry I was overtaking who (a) was speeding a bi...

Re: Been an absolute div

Thanks Chris :)

Will of course update if I hear anything. It'll be a nice/nasty Christmas present either way.

Re: Been an absolute div

With my camera van incident, seeing as there was no one behind me, if I'd slammed it on and done a u-turn whilst still some distance away could they have got me?

No NIP yet...ten more days to go

Re: Been an absolute div

Ha, unfortunately I ride my bike every day and some of that is always in town. Worth knowing for some weekend activities though... Something else interesting I didn't mention. Two days before I'd decided to take the baffles out of my Fuel exhausts – they're not grotesquely loud but are pretty hefty ...

Re: Been an absolute div

Exactly, not to mention the red light jumping and also what I call passive speeding (i.e. habitually and thoughtlessly driving slightly too fast in urban areas). Another thing he warned me about (N.B. anyone else in the North Wales area) is that these guys http://gosafe.org (civilian operated speed ...

Been an absolute div

On Friday evening I was riding home having nipped to Halford's. Riding very sensibly. Noticed a new-ish BMW behind me, slightly closer than I'd like but not tailgating. Went through a 30 speed limit and got annoyed by the car in front continuing at 40 all the way through. As the 30 changed to a 50mp...

Re: New member finally upgraded from CB500 ; )

Will do so this weekend : ) I'm a bit unsure as to how to reach the front tensioner because of the coolant hose that's in the way but I know this has come up before on this board so will do some searching. I should add, since this is still in The Welcome Inn – I'm absolutely in love with my Firestor...

Re: Weird and slightly concerning coolant leak

Yeah that also occurred to me. Although they're just spring clips not jubilee clips so not sure how you go about tightening them. My issue is clearly very much borderline dependent on temperature. Now that the weather's about ten degrees warmer here today I noticed there was no leak this morning. I'...

Haha, red to match the rest of the bike, of course. I bought it specially from Boots.

Re: New member finally upgraded from CB500 ; )

Hello all, sorry, had forgotten about this post so wasn't monitoring it! I have not used any kind of gasket or sealant and I don't have a single drop of oil from these tensioners. There is a large o-ring on the body of the unit, to perform the function of the OEM paper gasket, as well as two on the ...

Thanks for this tony.mon. I'll get the tank, airbox and carbs off this weekend and have a look at that hose.

Re: Weird and slightly concerning coolant leak

Yeah good call, I think I should actually try this. Even though I think I can see where it's coming from, it's such a small amount that it could be trickling down from somewhere else in a sort of barely visible film before congregating at the point where it appears to be emerging from. Having had a ...

Weird and slightly concerning coolant leak

Since the proper cold weather has been in, my bike's developed a minor coolant leak down on the left of the engine around the front of the alternator cover gasket. It appears to be emerging either from that gasket or the joint in the crankcase around there. It only happens for a short while when sta...
