Re: rear hugger

Amazing.
Thanks so much.
I'll definitely take that and work out a repair on it.. black as well.
Let me know how to pay you and I'll sort that and the address out.
Thanks so much, that's saved me a fair few quid.

Re: Why is the indicator switch so sh*t?!

A few months ago I had to completely disassemble and clean my indicator switch to get it to work properly. I stuffed it with silicone grease. All was great. Now all of a sudden it's misbehaving again. It was initially just the RH indicator. I sprayed a load of contact lubricant in there and it was ...

Re: best front brake pads

SBS come highly recomended by Jonesy... I've used Goldfren in the past Benny Hedges recomended them, others have dissed them. Cheeky Kev swares by std pads... It's all down to personal prefrence really & a lot of it comes down to how hard you use the brakes. Before fitting new pads strip & ...

Re: removing broken header exhaust studs

Looking good - should get through a few more winters. Mikalor supra W4 / W5 fully stainless clamps hi mate, just noticed your quote about mikalor stainless clamps.. do you know what size range is best for replacing the clamps that couple up the link pips and rear header? I'm guessing it w...

Re: Badly corroded exhaust clamp

Cheers - its still only at the drawing stage and a rough cardboard mockup like you made - the colour pics are of a similar type of flange for kwackas. Do the measurements match what you had as mine are still attached on a spare header. Knew O'level TD would eventually come in useful for somefink af...

SUCCESS!

i was lucky and didn't have to drill and retapp in the end. the top stud came out very easily after welding an 8mm nut to it- i think the heating from ark welding really helped. the bottom stud wouldn't budge and bust a weld twice so i tool a Dremel and Fien tool and cut down the aluminium cylinder ...

Re: SUCCESS! removing broken exhaust studs

i may have to do this yet. if i do i will just use straight 8mm stainless threaded bar all the way. do you know how deep the stud get into the head? i dont wanna drill+tap to deep! If you go in up to 20-25mm you'll be fine, I went in about 25mm, the stud is very hard so you will need cobalt drills....

Re: Badly corroded exhaust clamp

Sent off revised drawing for kwacka style split flange - decided against the tube and bolt version as too much faffing about with extra material welding and cutting. This version can be simply cut out then sent for trimming (CNC?) to achive the interlocking pieces. http://cl.ly/280M2S0q0N2y/screens...

Re: removing broken header exhaust studs

I tried that idea of welding the nut on and trying to undo it, unfortunately it didn't work, I'm not sure what metal the stud is but it's is very hard so therefore very brittle and just keeps sheering off. The first thing you may think is to question my welding skills, but I can assure after 40 yea...

Re: removing broken header exhaust studs

the seller is sending me another beta extractor as he thinks the last one was faulty by the way the roller cage cracked. i doubt the new one will be strong enough to do the job anyway so i will be attempting to ark weld a nut onto each stud and use loads of heat with a propane torch and then wiggle ...
