Re: main bearing replacement

Yea, your probably right. Shouldnt be too hard even with taking it out, just time consuming. Usually trying to take a short cut doesnt work well

Re: main bearing replacement

Did you replace the mains when you had the bores machined? And did you use new big end bolts? Re splitting the cases, it will take longer to split the cases and leave the upper half connected to the frame. Unless you have a really good reason it would be simpler to remove the engine and place it on...

main bearing replacement

After finishing a major overhaul of the storm (big bore, hi comp pistons, light flywheel, etc.) Ive had a KNOCK all summer! I found a loose main bearing with 0.005 of play at the flywheel... Im thinking the cases somehow didn't mate up perfectly. :Ball Kick: Winter is back.. so its time to fix it up...

Re: Ignitech Ignition map

Stephan, I appreciate the explaination. I have a better understanding now.
Only makes sense to use your map as a starting point, since you've already dyno'd it.

Re: Ignitech Ignition map

This is my map, tuned on dyno http://i60.tinypic.com/11i02z5.jpg I notice your base advance is set to 5deg, I just read in 2 of those links from wicky that the vtr is measured at 15deg base advance. Did you get a chance to measure that ? Or did 5 work better when tuning? If you're running more adva...

Ignitech Ignition map

Are any of you folks running a Ignitech tcip4 sparker? If so did you change the advance much? any comparisons would be great! I have just got to programming it... seems like the map they sent looks pretty conservative with the advance curve. Heres a pic of the original settings... and one that I've ...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve

Hey well done, good work   I bet it was magic to get it back together and fire it up 8) Thanks for the detailed write-up and photo's  Handy information to have. I had to look up the anaerobic case sealer, that is a new one to me, Chris. Thanks, I figured a little write up and p...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve

Yea for sure, what a great feeling after putting all that work into getting it right. I had it out today for the first good ride. I don't want to ride it too hard yet, but from what i can tell there is for sure a major improvement all around. A real dyno will tell a little better than my pants dyno....

Here's what was done Engine: -Engine resleeved with ductile iron bores and bored to 99mm -Custom 99mm JE 11.5/1 pistons (11.7 with the extra mm) -Lightened Flywheel.. Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve

This build is finally done...time to start the break in period. fired it up today for the first time. It runs great, idled great, no leaks, not burning oil  The a/f ratio gauge shows the carbs are jetted good, I took it for a spin and it read anywhere from 12.5 to 13.5 on accel. After runni...

Re: Carb Problem

Your floats are stuck open, they are overflow pipes, if the float bowl gets full it will come out. Off with the carbs again and clean out the needle valve and their seats. if you can bench test them with some fuel before putting them back on, try and hold them at the angle they'll be on the bike, i...

Re: Mcct - fact or fiction???

Last time I adjusted mine I tightened it lightly snug then backed it out about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. When I took it apart it seemed perfect to me. Pretty sure you'd want to position the flywheel at FT while doing the front and RT while doing the rear..I can't see how it'd get out of time. Sounds like ...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve

Did a bit more today. Got the engine in the frame. There was no need for those special tools for the frame spacer nuts.. Just had to line it up perfectly and pry a bit. Also installed a wideband o2 gauge/ sensor. I mounted it in the outer race of a bearing and welded a bit to it to mount off of the ...

Thanks guys, I defiantly had the flywheel lined up right. Must just be streched chains. All put together now.
