Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve
I have an update on the progress..took a few pics along the way. Finally got my block back with fresh bores, so I spent a couple nights gettiner back together. I'll write up a bit of a tutorial of how it went for anyone interested. Here's how it went: First I started pulling bags of parts out of my ...

Re: Timing marks not aligning
Thanks Tony, I didn't think it'd make much difference. Is that common to see?

Timing marks not aligning
Anyone know what's going on here? I have the flywheel on the FT mark and I cannot get the marks on the front cams to line up with the heads. If I move them one tooth they are facing slightly down if I move them one the other way they are slightly up. I think maybe a attached chain. I also had .002 t...

Re: Electrical help needed
Pump has to run before engine, you will have problem to start otherwise. I have electric water pump connected directly to battery, but there is connection to engine stop switch wire to give signal to relay. It is the similar approach as method decribed by roger, who has the pump controlled by key o...

Re: Electrical help needed
If I were to wire in a fuel pump I would only want it on while the bike is running.. the best way would be to use a generic relay of the proper amperage rating and find a wire that only has power while running. A relay doesn't draw to much power to operate. Just don't use a starter solenoid.. use on...

Re: Methanol injection
Heres what I have so far. Thats a 1 gallon tank fit into the tail, I had to put the pump in the battery box, and a lithium battery fits under it. The injection pump is controlled by a adjustable vaccum switch and relay.

Re: Methanol injection
Nice! I just covered over the snorkel and cut a square in the lid that the filter fits in.. I can't understand what they were thinking with the oem design...seems the filter was awfully close the the stacks, but maybe its a bit quieter..

Re: Methanol injection
I put the air filter in the lid of my airbox to make room.. pretty sure i saw you did the same thing somewhere on here?? Then installed a injector over each velocity stack. I will probably just inject water, and use washer fluid when it gets colder outside. I was worried about the corrosion as well,...

Methanol injection
While Ive been waiting on new pistons I've been working on installing methanol/water injection on the vtr. Y'all will call me crazy for putting ot on a naturally aspirated engine.. but there seems to be alot of pros, even on a n/a engine It will run cooler Adds a couple hp and a little torque Abilit...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve
Received JE custom 99mm 11.5:1 pistons today, getting block bored next week.
I dealt with a guy named Bryant.. I would highly recommend dealing with him.
Heres a few pictures with a bit of useful info. Notice on the spec sheet it has a job # for reordering...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve
Got a response from JE. They have no problem with supplying 99mm pistons with, rings, pins, and clips.
There was no minimum order on those either, I just emailed saying I want part#149139(vtr1000f 11.5:1) but in OS to 99mm..
They said no problem.
