Re: Replacing SC36 ICM and converter by an Ignitech DC CDI P
Thanks folks. Blipping the throttle automatically would be cool, but it's close to impossible on a carburetor engine. You'd need an EFI system with servo-controlled butterfly valves as a prerequisite. What you actually can do is to cut ignition in up and downshift when using the right two-way senso...

Re: 11.5:1 pistons....
I must have missed it but does anyone know the porsche motor that shares pistons with the V? Was it the older 3.2 motor? Thanks AV I've searched fairly extensively. No Porsche pistons would work.. there were some that are close to being able to work but do not have the same size wrist pins or some ...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve
OK, sounds good, I guess if Roger says so then it must be at least accurate. Do you know of any other members running 1mm OS with stock sleeves? Thanks again AV I would say that stock sleeves are very very thin at 99mm.. But it is probably possible. To re-sleeve was not an easy process..very tough ...

Re: Help with idle problem!
Good to see you sorted that out. Not fun tearing the carbs off 10 times.. but worth it in the end I installed a wide band sensor in my exhaust with a guage so I can read my mixture as I ride.. great way to monitor your mixture. Here's how mine went: -185 front and 190 rear -45 pilots, 2 turns out -L...

Re: 11.5:1 pistons....
Ok so theoretically, If i went JE pistons and longer duration cams (are these available?) what would the dyno plot look like next to the stock one theoretically? What kind of gains and where? Not 100% sure i would want to go lightened flywheel and clutch at this stage - wouldn't this start to intro...

Re: 11.5:1 pistons....
fitting aluminum clutch plates What was the weight difference between 9 driven steel plates and the 9 aluminum driven plates? How many miles on the aluminum ones so far? and have you looked at them for condition and measured them for wear? One off custom made or are they from a different applicatio...

Re: 11.5:1 pistons....
Any gains to be had from running more compression on an otherwise stock engine? More down low? more everywhere? Nothing much at all? Seems it could be pretty cost effective mod just to skim the heads since stock compression is pretty anaemic and have access to 98RON at pretty much every bowser.. Je...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Finally finishing up my build for the second time. Just in time for spring here. It now has carrillo rods, balanced crank, light flywheel , ductile sleeves with 99mm 11.5/1 pistons, all new flat faced valves 1mm os on intakes, ported heads, stage 2 cams with buckets and springs, Ignitech ignition, ...

Re: Header heat protection.
Yeah thats what they say, keeps the energy in, thus the gas velocity, but like you say, probably not really measurable. The t-bolt clamps do look nicer. Slight derail; had right side link pipe of yesterday, seems the stock pipes are kind of restricted.. wher the two headers merge, then merge off ag...

Re: Engine Loses Power after 1.5 miles
Yes the angle on the reassembled vacuum spigot plate could possibly be interfering with the proper action of the diaphragm. Definitely worth swivelling around to rule that out so its pointing horizontal. And a chance to check its sited well and doing its job. https://cl.ly/a65e2c5d8d1e/Image%252520...

Re: Ignition Coils - which is which?
Coils can do that.. they can act up more when they are under load (high rpm) and seem ok at low rpm. Usually it will get worse the hotter they get
