Re: a bit of spondoness.

I know it's probably clutching at straws but have you checked the fuel lines Fabio? Only reason I ask is because I took a deal on a GSXR recently that seemed to have a similar issue. After driving for a while it would lose power yet start and rev ok without load. My lines, filter etc all looked good...

Re: New Honda project bike...

Looks like you did well out of the bike deal budd. I had one a few years ago and was surprised how well they rode, mine was an earlier 1988 model with the 140 rear tyre that seemed a bit sketchy in the wet but the weather protection was really good (I once rode down the a1m at around 70 - 80 not rea...

Re: Stormless - for now!

Cheers Chris / Fabio. I really think part of me took this bike with rose tinted glasses remembering the days as a teenager reading about these in one of the bike magazines. Been on with the MOT prep this week. So far I've only had to fit some chinese indicators that I had lying around as the front p...

Re: Stormless - for now!

Cheers folks, I haven't yet ridden it as it doesn't go for MOT until later this week. First impressions are it's definitely not going to be as comfortable (similar seating position to my old 1995 Duc SS) and rolling it around it's quite a heavy lump even compared to the top heavy NX650. There's no r...

Stormless - for now!

I've been quietly moping since I sold my storm back to its previous owner a while ago (long story but felt it was the right thing to do). I tried the dual sport route with a Honda NX650/XR650L project and although it was fun it probably wasn't day to day practical and I still missed having a storm. ...

Re: Happy Birthday Bobbler.

Thanks guys

Had a late birthday present to myself and went to the Barry Sheene classic at Olivers Mount. Great weekend although the weather and standing water on saturday meant leaving the bike at home.

Re: Ok so I cheated today and paid a garage to do my mcct's

Those who have suffered the timing being 180 out have found the bike runs beautifully bellow 5k, even better than when the timings correct. However above that the air box can’t cope with the narrower firing order and the bike falters. Hope it’s good fella. It's been a while since I managed to get t...

Re: MCC adjusters v Honda OE?

I may well be wrong but as I understand it the MCCT'S are the better more reliable option and dont need constant adjustment. The ACCT'S have a good chance to ruin your engine if they go so for me it was worth it just for that alone.

Re: Ebay Finds (unusal/cheap/rare/or just good value)

Found while browsing Gumtree. Probably death by ACCT but might be able to barter a bargain. https://www.gumtree.com/p/honda-motorbikes/honda-firestorm-vtr-1000/1336347922 having a laugh at that price. cheap tacky addon's, a rear view camera that blocks some of the dash. and a foreign import with no...

Re: Ok so I cheated today and paid a garage to do my mcct's

Thanks for all the positive replies folks. Those that recognize they don't have the time or skill to do the job right are smarter to find a qualified mechanic to do the job rather then rush it or bumble though the job. Point is, nothing wrong with putting a job in hands you trust... I completely agr...

Re: Ok so I cheated today and paid a garage to do my mcct's

I had ran a bottle of silkolene through the bike for carb icing but it didn't make a great deal of difference. There really is no carb icing issues with this bike. The whole thing has come from a misunderstanding of the carb heat lines. Two things shoot down the icing theory. First the lines shut o...
