Re: Rear shock - can it be rebuilt?
This is my experience with YSS shock absorber. Maybe I had bad luck, but... https://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=43022&hilit=felix+barrao I changed it for the original one, ( with 90.000 km on it) and actually I didn´t notice too much difference.. three months later it failed, ...

Re: Cold starting issue
Sometimes if the voltage drops a lot in the crancking, the cdi has not enough voltage to work properly.
Nice to know that is working again.

What do you think of this bike?
I own one VTR, but constantly I look at the loco motorcycle aids. I have found this fairly cheap VTR-1000, ( 1300€). It´s very modified, but the seller says that everything is street legal. The front suspension is from a Kawasaki ZXR. I was thinking about buying it, to play a little for fun.... :lol...

Yes, pump the clutch lever helps. I have noticed that the disc sticking is more prone to happend the day after after a hot ride.

Re: 10W40 or 10W50?
Finally the change to Motul 10W40 didn´t help with the clutch issue, ( not an issue actually, you only have to wait about 20 seconds witht he engine running before to insert first gear...).

Re: 10W40 or 10W50?
Thanks, guys. I changed the clutch discs just after buying the bike because a bad working in the clutch system, ( the problem finnally was the slave cilynder that I changed by a Oberon ). I noticed then that the engine was like new inside, absolutely clean, with 85.000 km. ( check pictures) . Since ...

10W40 or 10W50?
Hello. I´m going to change the oil to the VTR. Honda recomends 10W40, that should be ok for most whether conditions, but here in Spain, ( and most in Zaragoza) we have max temps of 42ºC in summer. So, theoricaly under the same specifications, should be better 10W50 over 10W40 ( best high temperature...

Re: chicken strips
There was just curiosity, being both Metzeller Sportec M3, I expected a more equal wearing. And, probably suspensions are not in the correct settings, finally the seller refunded to me the money of the defective YSS rear shock absorber, and I have reinstalled the old one.. Not too much difference be...

chicken strips
One question about the " chicken strips" on my tires. Both tyres are metzeller sportec M3. ( So, tought to be used at the same time). Street normal use. Why so big difference between front and rear? "Edit " I mean that the rear one is used almost upon the limit, but the front see...

Re: Just lost clocks and lights
For sure a fuse, re check them. I Made a short circuit in mine installing the oil and temp gauges. If changing it the fuse blows again, you will have to check if you have some eroded wire making a sort.
Good luck

Re: CV carb operation
I actually prefer the carburated engines.. Yes, injected engines have better fuel consumption, they are more eco friendly, etc, but, imo they don´t have the feeling and character of a carburated engine.
