Blade front end would be first choice, but gotta keep costs down for now! So some elbow grease required!
Although, my wife has a new Fireblade. Wonder if she'd notice if I borrowed the front end......

Re: Last night's progress...
No idea what it felt like before! Was told it rode fine, however it then sat for years and there's no way you'd want to try riding it the state it was in when I got it!!

Re: Wheel colour
Had an ex World Supersport CBR600 track bike that was black with gold wheels when I got it. Quite liked that. Had thought of mad fluro colour but I'm aware that at some point I may want to sell it! Also, my work will probably use paint left over from another job, and none of the cars we do are fluor...

Last night's progress...
Fitted front and rear braided hoses. Fitted braided clutch hose. Wheels out to go for painting. Discs and bearings thrown away, replacements to be ordered. Forks out to go for painting before they go for refurb. Fuel tank back on for now. Cush rubbers were rock solid and 2 fell apart so will order t...

Re: Today's task - brakes
Looking much better now. Found the original little caps. My friend and I were both working on the bike when we stripped bits off so he must have removed them. Not putting original ones back in though. Still not sure I'll bother with new ones either. Calipers looking much better though! https://uploa...

Re: Today's task - brakes
Yup. Not my first time!!
Amazed that despite the bikes age and the fact it's been sitting for so long, pretty much every bolt has been easy to get out. Gotta love Honda's!

Re: Today's task - brakes
Definitely didn't have any of the caps when I took everything apart. Might get some, but no rush. If their torqued up, they ain't coming out. Sure it was around 36Nm. Got the service manual so can double check. I used a 10mm socket for all the other bolts. Will double check tomorrow the stuck one is...

Re: Today's task - brakes
Have changed over all bar one of the caliper joint bolts. The remaining one is going to need a bit work to get it out as it's a bit rounded (not my own doing). Couldn't see any of those grub screws on my calipers so glad I never bought any! Checked the fiche and looks like they go in after the pad p...

Re: Today's task - brakes
Get the pistons out as well for a polish and treat em to new seals This'll give you an idea where the rear pad springs fit And replace the horrid cheesey grub screws with SS allen headed ones > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pro-Bolt-Stainless-Steel-Caliper-Pin-Grub-Screw-Pack-x3-Polished-Stainless/332...

Today's task - brakes
Since I acquired my 1999 Firestorm, I've been buying a fair few bits. So far the engine has been fully serviced and the coolant changed and bled. Today I've cleaned the calipers up and put in new pads, pad pins and pad springs. Yet to figure out how the rear pad spring works. It was weeks ago I took...
