Re: CCT Problem Solved (100% guaranteed)

I bought some oem tensioners from Japan and fitted the stopper mod covered elsewhere. Cost me £100. I’ve since sold the bike as I got fed up with fuelling issues. Largest cv carbs honda ever fitted to an engine and they seem temperamental, especially compared to fi multi cylinder machines I’ve had p...

Re: Petcock woes

I cant believe I'm the only one to have had an issue with this, but to tie up a loose end I can tell you that I bought an OEM repair kit and it worked fine. Don't waste your money on pattern parts for this item!

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

Personally I don't believe it would make any difference if there was a vacuum inside the floats or if they were full of a heavy gas like Argon. The level it floats at is determined by the amount of fuel it displaces and the weight of air in such a small volume is negligible up to a couple of hundred...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

Everything is OEM. As said previously, if I so much as move the choke cable a fraction she cuts out as if it's already way to rich. Note sure if that's normal with these type of enrichening devices which are not really chokes per se. Id love someone to try this on theirs and see what theirs does. Wi...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

So back to an earlier question, with the bike having done just 18K miles is it likely that these have worn to the extent that they are causing hesitation/stuttering, especially given that my issues are all around very slight throttle openings? I guess getting it on a rolling road would tell me one w...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

Can someone please enlighten me as to what a "Needle jet" is and where I might find one in my VTR carbs. I've been in touch with a local tuner who says my issue may be a worn "needle jet". I explained that I have already replaced the pilot jets and asked why, if he was talking ab...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

Very interesting. I wonder if they're really needed at all then? One thing for sure is that they get in the way of adjusting the pilot screws! I've read of others relocating the coolant reservoir but not sure where they put it. That is also a piece of shocking design putting that where they did. Com...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

OK so I eventually got time to get back to the bike and invested in a set of 45 jets Fitted them, reset the TPS to 500 ohms. Set the needles to around 1.5 turns out each and went for a ride. It does seem a little better at very low revs and throttle settings but is possibly worse around 3000 rpm wit...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

The plot thickens. I’ve put my original choke cabl e back on. Though it doesn’t stay out through warm up It was a variable. I liked the theory that it wasn’t seating. So that done and set the tos to 500 ohm at the same time. Test ride. No better. If anything worse. Put my gunson kit in the pipe (alb...

Everything is back to standard, filters and pipes.
I’m liking the concept that the choke needles aren’t seating properly and will look at that next. But not today...

Re: Insurance deals

Thanks for the tip. Already done now but will look at it next year - if I keep it!

Thing with multi bike policies is it’s rare that more than one is used at any one time so risk is low, other than the F&T element which I guess is also rare on older machines?

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

Great info to follow up on. I’ll digest better tomorrow and decide where to go next. I’ve changed the choke nuts to ally. They were both varnished in and solid until I freed them up. I believe they’re closing ok. I’ll start by trying a lower idle though as I said I ended up back to 1000 rpm with the...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro kit)

OK Ill try Chris though the guide definitely stated 1800. What I would say is that after doing this I set it to about 1000 and it still idled perfectly where, if the jets were closed off Id expect it to stall. I haven't driven it yet like this. Hoping for some guidance first.

Cheers
