Daft Question of the day
Do you use threadlock on any of the bolts when doing up the fairing, I mean specifically the 4 bolts that go into the brackets at the side of the bike. Asking because they seem really small and might drop out easily?

Re: Oil filters
I did an oil n filter change yesterday. Bought 4 x HF204 which worked out at £6 each inc delivery and 20 litres of Exol Optima 4T 10w40 Semi Synthetic Motorcycle Four Stroke for £65 delivered. I already use Exol SS 2T on my RD350LC and have had no problems with years of use. That'll do me for a few ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
New clutch cover on, used Hylomar universal blue where the VTR manual said apply sealant. Not sure how long I'm supposed to wait before I refill oil and coolant so will wait 24 hrs  In the mean time I'll reconnect the hoses to the water pump, change the coolant plug and oil sump plug washe...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Did brakes & clutch fluid change on the VTR, also scraped off the gasket and sealant from the engine in readiness for the new clutch cover. Hoping to have the bike back on the road and MOT'd soon

Re: Water pump
Quick update - put an 8mm socket on the shaft and put the cover on the vice and whacked the socket a few times with a nylon hammer and out it popped :D Pressed out the bearing, ruined the mechanical seal and the rubber seal came out fine. The impeller, bearing and rubber seal look in good condition ...

Re: Water pump
Thanks Tony, I really would like to try it myself, not to save money but to learn. It's a shame that I am so far away from GrainStorm :plainsmile I am not sure exactly what side of the crankcase cover I would be pulling from or what the puller would attached to. I'll keep googling to see if I can ge...

Re: Water pump
I was swapping out a damaged RH crankcase cover and only realised when I got the cover off that I'd need to remove the impeller from the damaged case to the new one. Now that I have properly read the manual there are loads of specialist tools needed to swap out and replace all the parts and I don't ...
Re: bleeding
I know it's an old post but I am about to replace the coolant drain bolt sealing washer as advised in the VTR service manual at page 6-5 as part of a coolant change and the Honda part number for the washer is 90430-PD6-003

Who doesn't like a competition with prizes
Just reclamped the flange on the firestorm yesterday but it wasn't anywhere near good enough to enter.
Wishing all the contestants the best of luck

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Thanks for asking Al
My shoulder has recovered fine and my clavicle is loving its new position. I have ruined my beach shoulder symmetry but have been quietly working on growing a beer belly as a distraction point if I ever take my shirt off at the beach

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Not quite today but I have been dipping in and out over the last few days to get my 03 firestorm back on the road again after my RH low side. I finally cleaned the bike which has been under wraps since the Scottish monsoon last August! Removed my scraped rear tailpipe and replaced with an NOS tailpi...
