Can the Firestorm run cooler

I might just be too anxious but feel that my 03 Firestorm runs too hot, no issues on the open road but at speeds of around 30mph in and around urban areas. On the open road the temp guage reads around 70C but that moves very quickly to 95+ when I am in town; the fan doesn't cut in till around 104C I...

Re: Anyone feeling flush??

As they say on Dragons Den "I'm out" as I have already been down the Moriwaki from Japan route :D

Buyer likely to be charged import duty and VAT on the total purchase price so will need to feel even more flush

Re: VTR facebook page bans any non VTR posts!

Be warned that up my neck of the woods I can report any negative comments on my blue firestorm as a hate crime :D :D :D

Mind you if all Scots police are tied up with that desktop administration there should be less doing speed checks :shh:

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Great job - I did the same a while back, a repeated blast of plusgas over a week, also cut a sponge into a small cube, popped in a wee bag and gaffer taped to the studs, worked a treat  To remove I gently tightened the studs a bit then backed off...must say it was a relief as I had read som...

Re: part number for Honda manual?

My understanding is that the superhawk is the US name for the firestorm so they are the same bike. I expect if there are any minor differences between US and UK models the service manual will highlight them. 61MBB06 specifically refers to the USA in some instances for tooling part numbers but also g...

Re: part number for Honda manual?

Tried to get a new OEM Honda manual in the UK but no luck. I ended up using ebay and getting a manual from the States. My firestorm model is 2003 so I opted for the manual part number 61MBB06 which covers bike years 1998 to 2004. The seller sends the manual internally in the states to ebay internati...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Got out on the firestorm, its first short ride of '24 :D Indicator dashboard light was flashing like mad, front nearside not working. First call when I got home was to search this forum for that issue, could be bulb, relay or crusty connection. After faffing about removing lens covers, checking and ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Washed the Firestorm chain with kero, dried and relubed with gear oil. I'll probably need to redo the chain sooner than using a stickier lube as the gear oil will fling like the billy-o. Like a lot of folks I like to treat my bike to a gadget every now and then and as I was in chain cleaning mode I ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

After reading Chris's post I wheeled the firestorm outside and started it up this morning and let it run till the fan kicked in, no starting issues thankfully. I have had battery troubles in the past and think that I probably ruined the previous expensive battery by having it permanently on an optim...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Not sure if this qualifies as what I have done, more like what I might be able to do in the future :D I got an immaculate NOS Honda Service manual delivered from the USA today as a crimbo present to myself. Already have various pdf versions of the manual but I find it easier to read in book form the...

Re: OEM Heated Grips - Fitting Help

Thanks Tony, I am waiting for the right part number sub-harnesses for the 03 Firestorm to arrive as the ones that I had were for a different bike. Luckily they are still available and not too expensive (around a tenner for the pair). I couldn't work out from the sub-harnesses I had if they were 'plu...

OEM Heated Grips - Fitting Help

Hi - I have a set of OEM Honda heated grips for my 03 Firestorm and am looking for some advice to help me fit them. The Honda instructions that came are not fully clear and at some points refers you back to the read the Firestorm service manual. I can't find any reference in the main service manual ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Spring will be here in a flash  Been doing winter prep too, after washing the firestorm I waxed the wheels with regular liquid turtle wax. I use Pocket Rocket (WD type of stuff) and to give the metal bits a spray/wipe including the titanium exhaust as it keeps it all rust free. I did an oil...
