How to take out front brake pads?

Hi Now tackling another issue. I installed the rebuilt front forks yesterday - all good. (Although I did manage to mix up left and right forks, and soon realised my error when trying to install front mudguard!) Now I would like to replace front pads as the front left pads have been soaked with fork ...

Re: Rear shock - can it be rebuilt?

I can find a suitable YSS shock on ebay at a good price, plus I can pay it off on a payment plan. I sent the seller a message asking if they could fit a different spring. Sadly they replied No, and that the current spring was good for a 90kg rider. How do I get in touch with popkat? I tried to send ...

Re: Rear shock - can it be rebuilt?

After 112k km's, I'd be gratefully thanking it for its hard work and promptly retiring it to the skip [emoji38] Could be worth looking into an aftermarket shock, there are some really good replacements for not a great amount of money. Yes, aftermarket seems to be the go. I've found a brand name - Y...

Rear shock - can it be rebuilt?

Hi
Now moving on to the back of the bike. Getting fork seals done on front so front end should be ok.

Now to the rear shock. How do I tell if it needs fixing? Bike has done over 112,000km so I think it's tired.

Re: Choke cable location?

Thanks. I had a go at rerouting the choke cable but can't seem to get it to follow the path shown in the diagrams in this post... https://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=43450 It's like both the choke cables leading to the carbies is "trapped" underneath, so in order to reroute, I'd...

Choke cable location?

Hi Managed to remove the fuel tank and air box. Now, the choke cable was loose near the front of the bike. I relocated the cable to where you see it in the photos below. What size is the choke cable bolt? I tried an M6 but no go. Seems smaller. Also, cable is "tight". I have it running aro...

Re: How to get fuel tanks off?

Okay, so no need for external filter. That's good. I have bought a Hendler fuel tap rebuild kit off ebay. It being shipped from the UK (GB) to me here in Aus. When I remove the fuel tap to fix it, will I need to remove that internal strainer from the tank as well? EDIT: Have ordered strainer from my...

Re: How to get fuel tanks off?

Many thanks for your reply. One more question. Does my model have any sort of inline fuel filter? My bike has carbies and was wondering if there was any sort of fuel filtering. If not, could you put a small inline fuel filter in like this? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254104866019 or cheaper ones lik...

Re: How to get fuel tanks off?

Many thanks. I went to remove the tank today and undid the top two bolts, plus I managed to get the 10mm nut off the pivot bolt and have the tank just sitting on the frame now. BUT when I went to disconnect the hoses, pipe F2 (using photos above) was pissing out fuel - not just a dribble, but flowin...

Oh ok. My bad. But the original Honda switch had those stupid anti-theft screws - you know the ones with the little dimple in the middle of the torx screw pattern.

All working now so no biggie.

Re: Ignition switch woes

Yes, that would work. But then I'd have to use the old key in the old ignition switch. What I want is one key for the ignition, fuel and seat. So, I bought one of these from my local auto store - https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-quick-connect-housing---3-way-20-amp/120301.html And with a ...

Ignition switch woes

Continuing on getting this thing roadworthy. I managed to remove the original ignition lock so that I can use the same key for the new fuel tank lid and the ignition switch. Instead of drilling out the old security bolts, I used a hammer and a nail/centre punch to "turn" the top of the bol...

How to get fuel tanks off?

Hi Now in the process of removing the fuel tank to get to the air cleaner, and to also move the choke cable back to its original position. Q now is - how do I get to that 17mm nut? I can under the 10mm fine, just after some worldly advice to remove the 2nd nut. https://i.ibb.co/NSHDs9T/IMG-20210730-...
