Re: Different keys?

No, that method only works when stealing fireblades. Although a livewire key apparently starts any motorcycle with no discernible engine performance, i.e. any Harley Davidson. So that's where I'm going wrong. How does the HD torque wrench work again? Tighten til it goes loose then back off 1...

Re: Different keys?

Quite common to have mismatched keys... I've got one that the seat lock had to be changed so two keys for that bike... You biggest problem is getting the cap off. It's only held on by 3 bolts the others are just dressing. 9o/c & 5 & 7 o/c are the ones that hold it in... But it wont come off...

Different keys?

Hi With any purchase 2nd hand, you're bound to run into problems. Now I have found my first real one! I can't open the fuel tank lock/lid with the ignition key! Did Honda make two keys - one for ignition and the other for fuel cap? Bike is 1999 VTR1000F. Should I continue to pester with the ignition...

Re: New owner questions - 1999 VTR1000F

Thanks for the videos. I didn't know you could buy the vinyl itself! Tomorrow I will see what a local upholsterer will charge me. You say your engine is tired. Could you get a compression test done on it? If that's fine, then it might just need servicing and a carb retune. You're generally better of...

New owner questions - 1999 VTR1000F

Hi Recently bought a 1999 VTR1000F. Everything seems to be there. Starts easily and motor is quiet. For registration in NSW Australia, it needs a new front tyre, plus some TLC and general maintenance. The seat vinyl is torn in a few places. I'd like to get it reupholstered. Any suggestion as to mate...

Hello all, On the weekend I purchased a 1999 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm. Bike has a fair number of kms - approx 119,000km (nearly 74,000 miles). Overall the motor is quiet and bike starts easily. It's winter here now, but where I am (Newcastle NSW) temps rarely fall below 5degC overnight. This is my 1...
