Yep, I agree about leaving the chokes as is. Even in sunny Darwin (30ºC most days) I need a bit of choke to get my VTR started.

Have now refurbished and fitted both caps and I tightened them by putting bolts into the threaded holes in the caps and using a small screwdriver between the bolts.
