Re: Probably going to be VTR owner?

Don't hesitate. I sold a Monster 1100 last year, liked it. But... At almost a third of the price I sold it for, I got a mint VTR... with just one 30 mile run under my belt in my new - yellow :D - Firestorm, I can't wait for the next 3000 this summer. Brilliant thing - and brilliant Forum to boot if ...

I took a photo of the one fitted mine at the moment- I see at least it is finned, probably becuase it is the newer series 2 version from 2001 - w...

Re: Advice on possible regultor replacement

Thanks guys, great advice as ever. And much appreciated. there's also a brand new one I found made by a company called MTX I's on ebay at £73 but brand new. Ever heard of it? Seems like a plug n play version, according to the blurb. There is also a pretty expensive job online made by Electrex see sc...

Advice on possible regultor replacement

Well, I thought it was time to leave the Welome Inn now I've owned the bike for a couple of weeks! So, quick question -given all fluids now changed, I am going to take everyone's advice and will be changing reg/rec before the season starts proper. I found this one on line - from 2019 on BMW S1000 RR...

Re: At last, a Firestorm owner!

Thanks for all of the replies, bit of peace of mind then on the CCTs! Really appreciate the help, wonder if I'll be able to offer some one day, lol! (Won't be mechanical I wouldn't imagine, be too embarrassed to offer any as there are - thankfully- some top blokes on here who know a lot more than I ...

Re: At last, a Firestorm owner!

And here is the photo that might be of use determining the tensioners question.

Good thing I did find out is that a Hyperpro combi kit was fitted around 10 years ago.

Re: At last, a Firestorm owner!

I'll take a photo tomorrow of the section Mac pointed out and someone can hopefully tell if the are manual ones, however the service history says 'cam chain tensioners replaced in 2011 and then in 2014 it says -' remove cam chain adjusters and do stopper mod.' no idea what that means, maybe you guys...

Re: At last, a Firestorm owner!

Oh jeez Mac! my Firestorm going on fire is not what I fancy! Right, I will check that reg/rec tomorrow and get that sorted. CCT done in 2010 according to history I got with bike, so all good there. And clutch bleed today - oh my christ, what a difference, bites half way now, weird sh*t in terms of s...

Re: At last, a Firestorm owner!

Mac- how do I check the reg/ rec isn't actually the original one? I have heard they are rubbish - and I don't fancy getting stranded in Tighnabruich this summer!

And which is best in everyone's opinion?

Re: At last, a Firestorm owner!

You're right Mac but being a designer and obsessed with aesthetics, the visual modding is in the blood. :D In saying that, clutch and brakes bleed and oil and filter change scheduled for this weekend, tyres checked, nearly new condition and from 2017 so all good there,( sort of..) fork oil is next b...
