Re: Fuel strainer Screen Set
Might be time to fit two inline fuel filters . I was thinking that. Is that what people normally do then? It was mainly because the tank will still have the potential to have sone crap in it, however hard I try to clean it, more bits will be hiding ready to flake off - I didn’t want to clog up the ...

Fuel strainer Screen Set
Took tank apart today to clean all the rust out. The plastic screen set/fuel strainer inside - connected to the petcock was destroyed. Part number 16952-MBB-D41 seems to not be available anywhere. There are many other 16952 screen sets online with codes like 16952-MAZ-003 etc. Any ideas whether thes...

Re: Simple Sunday one!!
Ended up drilling it. Now looking for new petrol cap.
I’m now at least able to see the rusty crap that I need to remove.

Re: Fork Stanchion Chrome repair.. HELP!
ABE are wanting £200+ each leg to supply new. Hard Chrome Plating are going to get my money at £150 for the total re Chrome job incl postage. Only slight issue is 5-6 weeks turn around. Or it’s £150 pair for new from China with 4 week wait, but then I’ve been stung this way before when things turn u...

Re: VTR cam chain tensioners
I did mine recently as a total bike mechanics newbie. As yet untested, but quite straight forward. I don’t think the guide on here said this, and I therefore didn’t do this, but I have since read/seen a lot of posts/vids etc where ppl say remember to put thread lock on the bolt. Otherwise it can win...

Re: Simple Sunday one!!
The guy I got it off gave me two matching keys. No mention of any others. My guess, having read what you’ve replied, is that it IS the correct key and there is something stuck in the bottom 1/2” of the barrel. The key goes in, just not deep enough to do anything. Now I know that I can’t remove whils...

Simple Sunday one!!
I have a key for ignition barrel. Doesn’t plunge all the way into the filler keyhole. Would it have been a different key? Maybe shorter (remember I’ve never owned or ridden a storm before) I’m wanting to drain and clean the tank. Without a key, any ideas how I can remove the filler ‘bit’ from here -...

Re: Fork Stanchion Chrome repair.. HELP!
Thanks Tony. I’ve emailed them now. Let’s see what they say tmro. It’s annoying this problem, because the pitting is fairly minimal, so it might be ok, but it’s not the right way forward to risk it..

Re: Fork Stanchion Chrome repair.. HELP!
Thank you. Great reply. I just can’t believe how costly the process is - if they weren’t in China and 45 day delivery, it would be cheaper to buy new.
I had already put some feelers out but from your list, the second one hardchromeplating seem the most reasonable at £150 the pair incl postage.

Fork Stanchion Chrome repair.. HELP!
Hi all, the rebuild from complete basket case/9 years sat in the rain to hopefully a running Storm is going well, however the stumbling block this week is that there is some pitting in the chrome fork legs. I thought this might be a simple fix but it’s looking prohibitively expensive whichever way I...

Re: Dust Seal advice
In the end I managed to lever the bearing off using the dust seal washer and screwdriver - it was a press fit, but not stupid tight. Bearing intact. Happy days

Re: Dust Seal advice
I don't see how you can remove the dust seal without removing the lower cone, you either need to insert a bearing puller - the two-part circulate wedge type…. I bought one of those external bearing wedge circular things but can’t get it on due to the cast lugs at the front either side that limit th...
