Re: What's under your seat.

The other "casting" in the tray is for a short tyre pump, which also wasn't supplied as standard.
If you want to get it back to standard, I have a handbook and a toolkit, which I think is complete.
You'll need to buy a new rubber band, as a 2nd hand one and as likely to be perished and unusable.

Re: new tyres :)

I run Dunlop Sportmax (changing to the TT variant next time) which have a design which allows them to run slightly lower pressures. However, although rears seem ok at 32-34 (solo), the front, running at 30- 32 have developed "saw-tooth" patterns. Plenty of tread left, but the uneven wear means that ...

Re: Scissor gears assy

Yes.
Best just leave them off.
They're not necessary, it makes no discernible extra noise and the gears don't wear.

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

I can't offer any definitive evidence, but the rev limit is very low on vee twins compared to il4's. I measured the piston to valve clearance on the STD engine with just high comp pistons fitted, and there was loads. So even with lumpier valves there should be enough clearance, and no real chance of...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

The std Honda ones are pretty good, so unless you are upping the rev limit they should be ok.

Now that is what you call a machine shop, just a vertical mill and a surface grinder and you can give up work.
And a mig/tig.

Re: NEW VTR 1000 FIRESTORM owner and Honored Member

Hey, Karl, welcome They're not very nimble as standard, but the first thing to check is tyre pressures... You can quicken the steering noticeably by slipping a 6mm spacer at the top shock mount between the top of the shock and the frame. You'll kick the rear seat cover getting on for a week or so un...

Re: *** THREAD HIJACK ***

I was going to clean out the cat litter tray, for the wife's cats, so last night, when the wife was out, I looked for the cat litter but couldn't see any where it's normally kept. As she got home after I went to bed, I left her a note, saying that I couldn't find her cat litter despite trying hard t...
