Re: Battery charging rate?

Where abouts on the chassis is it? Well on mine ( and ive found many non standard things on it! ) The cable runs from the negative terminal , to the speed sensor pickup, just to the right hand side of the rear CCT. The bolt wasn't even finger tight, after i had been replacing the speed sensor. It w...

Re: Battery charging rate?

Youve checked the cable from the negative terminal on the battery to the chassis? Mine was loose, and was giving me starting issues.

Re: How hot is too hot?!

Just tried out the above reg/rec. Works ok so far, doesnt get as hot as the R6 one i had. Still hot tho! Charging at a pretty steady ~14.4v. Couple of things i could use an opinion on. I was trying to balance the carbs, using the 2 ball bearings in tubes method. They didnt seem far out, the moving b...

How hot is too hot?!

I have an R6 reg/rec on my machine, noticed when i was stripping the bike, that the spade terminals and about an inch of the insulation of a couple of the terminals had been cooked. Turned brown and brittle. I noticed that the reg used to get very hot, almost instantly after turning on the engine. T...

Re: Stripped, rebuilt, hit starter, nothing!

Bypassed the relay by tapping the starter motor onto the + connection. Bike started ok after a bit (understandable) , but only on one cylinder, revved it a bit, no joy, then i noticed i hadnt put the front spark plug cap on! d'oh.

Re: Stripped, rebuilt, hit starter, nothing!

The battery is new, well, its been on an optimate since new, about 9 months ago.

The engine turns by hand, did it when i was checking valve clearances. I should be hearing the relay clicking, which im not. Gonna get the meter out and check some stuff. Pretty sure its a dodgy relay tho.

Stripped, rebuilt, hit starter, nothing!

As topic says.. Turned on ignition, dash lights up etc, neutral light is lit etc. Press starter, and nothing, just a very slight, quiet click from the starter relay. Disconnected the starter motor, tried agiain, made no difference. Looking at the wiring diagram, theres nothing else that can really b...

Re: Things i should do when carbs are off (standard storm)

I had an issue with petrol escaping from the tank when i removed it. It completely saturated the spongy pad thats stuck the underside of the tank. Could i replace it with any kind of sticky sponge, or does it have to be some special type. I think a replacement is about £30 which i thought was a bit...
