it smoothed out the snatchy low speed throttle control a little, but hasn't cured it - eg its nowhere near as smooth as me injected blackbird nor me carbed storm for that matter. and its maybe added 20 miles to a tankful of fuel. and my sole instruction to the fitter/dyno fella was to sort the snatc...

A difference but not £460's worth of difference IMO - which is what it cost to buy & have it set up on a dyno :wink2

just logged in looking for bike info & suddenly it doesn't matter thoughts are with you matey & hoping the diagnosis / prognosis in june is far better than you're fearing - and it may be neither MS nor MND but something curable.

ta fellas :wink: plans are: its going in the shop on thursday. if its gonna cost more to repair than the cost of fitting another engine then I'll go the replacement engine route - and the bike will be sold cos it'd be only half the bike I know & love & have bonded with. also if its repaired ...

its the front one - which I believe is the most accessible but there's loadsa bits to come off to get at it (mike says even changing the sparkplugs is a major job )
hope yer right about costs but at £50-£60 per hour plus gaskets/pressure test/skim or new head I'm prepared for the worst

mike refilled the cooling system (took virtually 2 litres) & we ran it for 10 minutes or so. the warmer she got the steamier she got. she's leaking coolant from the exhaust at every joint (full akrap all sprung joints). coolant level dropped significantly in rhs rad & I guess below the therm...

never noticed it running hotter than normal & the cooling fan still kicks in when it should so I don't understand how it could've overheated anyway. my only hope is that its still redex coming out of the exhausts & that the empty coolant reservoir is coincidental & due to a leak - a high...

if its not cracked & just a gasket would they just skim the one head? would that not create a compression imbalance? (probs a numpty question but I ceased to be embarrassed by me ignorance years ago )

mike reckons its gotta be a dealer jobbie, its very involved & he might not even risk a DIY if it was his own bike.

think its the front cylinder. and I've just been reading that adding TOO MUCH redex to too little fuel can cause overheating - gonna kick meself if its self inflicted.
bike's at FSM's house now. might ask him to refill the reservoir & start her up & check for bubbles tomorrow.

yep I initially assumed the white smoke was the redex too. but it got a lot worse over about 20 miles riding and there's definitely coolant coming out the zausts & even a little dripping from the headers. FSM took a look & confirmed coolant in zausts & an empty coolant reservoir. hoping ...
