Re: exhaust studs

Yes i would have perhaps but the new downpipes plates have holes that are for m8 size bolts and id rather have that size .. fit is just much better and stronger i feel .. nothing worse than siezed studs then sheared studs .. ! Its more the material question .. stainless is reported to stick and weld...

Re: new exhaust downpipes .. where to get ?

Aye .. only other aftermarket make id been told was delkovic but cant see any listed with them. Think ill buy a set from sandys and if the fit is too far out could always get them modified slightly to fit better ..
cheers guys

Re: new exhaust downpipes .. where to get ?

Would really prefer a custom set made to fit everything else just as it is rather than have to bend and force it all together .. did the collars fit into the cylinder heads accurately ?
Has anybody had a custom set made ?

Re: What fails on a cct?

Be careful if you take apart an auto cct and intend to fit it again .. I believe there is a specific number of turns to charge up the spring inside so it exerts the correct pressure on the plunger. Call me cynical and I will stand to be lambasted !! but I do fear more is made out of these cct issues...

Re: buggered starter and tight manual ccts

Aye good stuff guys .. no desire to go mad for the sake of one hp increase .. had the bike for over seven years now so I know its been running fine .. this recent issue of starting has been brewing a while hopefully all sorted now just another wee period of checking the mccts after my adjustment whi...

Re: buggered starter and tight manual ccts

Cheers Matt made one complete starter out of the two ! Insulators were a bit cracked on mine and the terminal bolt non existent. All back together and with my rear mcct backed off three flats and front five flats with both chain deflections at seven mm maybe as much as nine if you really push it .. ...

Re: cct too tight

I would strongly suggest that you dont try listen to anything its really far too much of a black art. Just get torn into the bike take both valve covers off both chain guides off and using the fitting guides on here turn the engine to the correct position and measure the cam chain deflection between...

Re: buggered starter and tight manual ccts

Yeah found that there dont remember seeing that before very thorough write up .. yes I see its full movement that the measurement relates to .. im going to slacken the front cylinder three flats and the back by two on the mccts and see how it fairs .. should be fine .. Actually toying with fancy cam...

Re: buggered starter and tight manual ccts

Hello Matt hows it going ? Aye might take you up on that actually, give us a shout if you're down in Prestwick over the weekend. Turns out my starter is not turning over as smoothly as it should, and the terminal bolt is corroded away along with all the insulating washers, hence short circuits and p...

Re: buggered starter and tight manual ccts

Thanks folks .. yes everytime I out on the vtr it gets a good workout .. in fact ive done more miles round knockhill than one the road the last couple of years. I have had the manuals in for over six years and over 7000 miles with no probs other than this starting issue but I think as its a bit of a...

Re: buggered starter and tight manual ccts

Yes .. agree with all the logic here .. I would say if your starter motor burns out and you have manual ccts id vet your tension setting is too much .. think of the damage you could be causing to the bearings by having them too tight .. a weak starter is a fairly sure sign in my book .. I think I do...
