Had a VFR 800 Vtec for two years after the storm and just changed that for a long distance bike ..... an ST1300.

Power
Hi Got a set of high level Pro Series II ART cans and a K&N. Dyno got 108 bhp at the rear wheels. Nothing else done to the bike. The Dyno showed the power curve to be a bit fluffy at the bottom end, once above 5K though sings like a bitch ! Dyno man suggested that Firestorms don't like K&N f...

Hot Cans
Guys I put a set of ART high level cans on about 7 months ago. I have done a bout 7000 with them on without any problems. Does not run hot at all. ART told be that I didn't need to change the jets because, as has been pointed out, the Storm runs rich as standard so the cans just make it run leaner. ...

ART Cans
Just had the MOT done - god is the bike that old !!! Anyway ran with the standard cans on for a week after the MOT. What a difference compared to the ART cans. The bike felt as if it was restricted with the standard cans on. Put the ARTs back on and waaa haaa back to full on full throtle action. The...

16,000 Mile Service
Yoh Guys Just to let you know I had the 16,000 mile service done last week. Total cost £235.78. That includes:- Oil and oil filter. New spark plugs. New Rear Pads. New shim on front exhaust valve. Carbs balanced again - gets done every bloody service - is that normal ? Cleaned out my K&N filter...
Oil
Cheers, thanks for the advice. I can sleep at night now. You know how it is you start to think something is wrong etc etc and get yourself convinced the engines going to die !
Oil
Need some help guys. My bikes got 15,559 miles on the clock and was fully serviced at 12,000 miles with oil replaced etc etc. Doing a few checks at the weekend and notice that oil was low. Filled her up (ooh err !) and she took 700 ml of oil ! Do storms use oil at this rate ? Is it normal ? Or did t...

Fuel Range
No matter what anyone says the ART cans have made a difference to the tank range. Get 106 to 110 or short trips and well into the 117-123 on longish trips and done a 135 before the light came on on a long blast !

What sort of riding were you doing when you started to run on vapours ? Are you a red line in every gear man or do you take it easy ? On my daily commute to work, 50% motorway 50% town, I get 108 miles when the light comes on. I regularly take it to 117 or 123 then fill up. I never put more than 14l...

Del, Gulp..... I only got the ART cans coz they sound F'ing good (Cheers Buzz). The bike is way fast enough for me :D . Only reason I contacted ART was to check I wasn't going to cook the pistons / valves by leaning the mixture as a result of the cans. ART are suggesting that I wont, hope the...

Fueling
Hello Sluggy K&N filter went straight on. Well I say straight on but the firestorm is a bit quirky when it come to getting at the filter. You have to take the tank off of course, but the fuel tape isn't the easiest to get too. Anyway after washing the garage floor with petrol, it needed a clean,...

Did all of this before the reserve light came and the trip was done at high speed, infact got up, nah better not say!, but it was fffffffffaaaaaaaaaaasssssssttttttt. An...
