Johnny: will that be the molybdenum disulphide grease I will be needing?!!!

I will be fitting a set of steering head bearings over the next few weeks, I have the Haynes manual and have sort of read how to do it.
Are there any hints or tips that anybody would recommend for this task, other than getting someone else to do it

Hi Paddy, I have been using Bridgestone 020's for the last two years with no probs. I find that they wear in the raitio of 1 front to 2 backs. hope this helps, Cheers A.M. Try sealing all the joints with RTV high temp silicone sealant, to stop drawing cold air in the joints and causing the cold air to expand (or so I have been told) and make the popping noise. What like was the "fit" of the Blue Flame cans? as I had a bit of a fiddle to get mine near enough....

How far North and West are you planning?
There are plenty of good roads up and along from Fort William, If I am not too busy at the time I could meet up.

Tony you bet me on that one, I had just emailed David silver about spares for an XL100 and was just about to do as you obviously had done. I think they are missing out on an opportunity to make a good bike that bit better (suspension sort out) and possibly a sharper looking fairing.
Mind you I didn't expect them to change the engine as they would lose out on the big bucks they are making on the cct's

Quite a few of the stormers on the site seem to be looking for fairings for whatever reason. If we keep going on at this rate we could end up having a streetfighter section!!! . The black tape is still keeping my left hand section from flapping in the wind after a 0mph spill 2 years ago. Cheers A.M.

The bloke up the road did nothing to cover/hide the rads. Personally as I said I think it looks pretty mean, all that noise and no plastic at the front. A bloke up the road from me has a 99 rendered a street fighter from a low speed spill and I must confess it looks pretty mean.
