Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Thanks to the helpful posts by Wicky , today I replaced my Reg/Rec with a mosfet unit from a BMWS1000R. I have done the multimeter test, which gave the following: ignition off 13.28V; ignition on and lights on ~12.5V, dropping slowly; engine running and lights on, revs 2000-5000 was 14.4-14.5V. Acco...

Re: Regulator/Rectifier
Thanks! all seems pretty clear, other than where to get the connectors (the Triumph link doesn't work). I'm sure I can find something that will do the job.

Regulator/Rectifier
I am looking to replace my original rectifier before it self destructs. I was going to fit an R1 R/R, following the guide on the Super Hawk forum, but am now considering one from BMW S1000, as I think I am correct in thinking it is a MOFSET one that will work. Are there any guides to installing this...

Re: Hello (again)
Thanks for the welcomes! Looking forward to a summer of riding, and hopefully making some mods/improvements to the bike. 14 years ago when I had to repair my red 'Storm, I got original colour coded panels from David Silver with no bother. As the new bike has a couple of lugs missing from the tail un...

Hello (again)
I'm not new, but haven't ridden a bike or posted here for 14 years, since I sold my last VTR. Today I collected a 1998 VTR in yellow, with a WP rear shock. Felt very rusty for my first ride in 14 years, and 2 hours of heavy traffic and dual carriageways was not the most inspiring return, but am look...
I crashed on a road I know well just outside Bicester, where I live. If it had been that road near Evesham I don't think I would have been so lucky. I reckon it will cost about £500 to fix all the damage, plus I need new leathers! To top it all, the police are making me attend a riding skills cours...
OUCH!
Decided to go for a Friday afternoon ride in the autumn sunshine and had my first ever highside 8O - which ended up with me in A&E and the bike looking decidedly 2nd hand. Bugger! :( Luckily I only broke my collar bone, but the bike will be needing just about everything for the right hand side. ...

After the Big G.T.
Well, it was great to see all those who went on the Big G.T., and good to put faces (and real names) to the aliases! After leaving Stratford, Dynamite and I went back to Evesham and then took the A44 to Moreton-in-Marsh; there is a fantastic section on this road, just east of Broadway, with a whole ...

Sh*te Shock
Well, I've just returned from a quick blast with Dynamite/Matt on our brace of Red 'Storms; I've only been a member for 5 days and already it's paying off. I was left with 3 impressions: 1. Riding fast in the dark is quite nerve wracking 8O 2. The flames from kill switch backfires are very entertain...

Adding preload will help. The preload adjusters are the cylindrical raised parts with evenly spaced rings running down them, and they have a damping adjuster screw in the middle. Winding them in, so there are less grooves visible, will mean that it takes more force to bottom the forks out. A recent ...

Yeh, I've lived in Bicester for nearly 4 years. I originally had a black Firestorm, but that was killed opposite the fire station. I now have a red one like yourself. Not only do we live in Bicester and have red 'Storms, but I'm called Matt as well! You can see two images of me at Donnington in the ...

I have a full bellypan from my late lamented black 'Storm, but I've been faffing about in Photoshop trying out various mods to see what I like (avoiding real work), and although my black bike looked the muts nuts with the full fairing, I just prefer the Moriwaki style unit on a red bike. No accounti...
