I too don't remove the tubes. I've got a T-joint on the back one, with an extra hose coming from the T to connect to the vacuum gauge. I've also added a vacuum nipple from a ScottOiler to the front cylinder, and a piece of vacuum hose from that to the left fairing, where both hoses are plugged and t...

Re: Avon Azaros

Nice write-up, Pete, but you left some details out. There are actually more than one type of the new Azaros - the SP and the ST. I've had a mix on the FahrtSturm for the last few months - got the AV49-SP on the front, and the AV46-ST on the rear. This combo works brilliantly. Only complaint I have i...

It could also be your Wreck-you-later/Rectumfrier. I had exactly the same symptoms on my VFR and on my VTR when the R/R was bad. Have a careful check of all the plugs and wires (may not show any problems - I had a burnt wire on the VTR, but nothing visible on the VFR), or better still, check the vol...

At most, it's likely to run a little rich, but won't do any damage.
You should have no problems finding some aftermarket zorsts there, but try this site:

Mine says "V2" and in smaller letters "90 DOHC" (with the 'degree symbol' after the 90).
The tank has "Firestorm" in large silver letters, then "Honda" in smaller letters.
The front fairing says "VTR".

When I got my FahrtSturm, the previous owner had filled it with Castrol semi-synthetic. I had to keep topping it up every couple of weeks.
After I changed the oil to Motul 5100 semi-synth, I hardly ever have to top it up.

The VTR is called the "Superhawk" in the US because it follows the very successful Hawk (NT650, I think). In fact, the prototype VTR1000 was developed in the US, and looked quite a bit like the Hawk. The only differences are mainly to stuff like emissions equipment, headlights, and whether...

Most if not all Hondas make a loud clonk when selecting first gear. Don't worry about it. Anyway, if it was louder or clonkier than normal, it would be the clutch you needed to check, not the sprocket. If the bike leans to the left when you're braking, then it's either your technique, or something i...

I do give engine and electrics a squirt of WD40 (water repellant spray) under seat fuses, battery etc, maybe thats the key? Yeah, I already did that, Paul, and in fact the second time I experienced this problem I went to a service station and bought a can of silicon spray and sprayed everything tha...

Misfiring in the rain

I've had some problems recently with riding my FahrtSturm in the rain, as it don't like it. The last two times I've commuted in the wet, it's been damned near impossible to ride, with it misfiring, coughing, spluttering, and generally misbehaving. The last time was last Friday, and I was lucky ot ge...

Must admit they look great, but can't help thinking that they would be a nightmare to keep polished, I think I prefer the polished rim idea for practicality. Yeah, you'd think that. However, on my VFR, which had white-painted wheels, they were chipped from tyre changes, and were a real bastid for s...

Hi, Del. :) Well, I don't think it's been leaking out of the air hole thingo (wondered what that was), so it's obviously not a bad leak then, and the diaphragm's probably not split, or at least not badly. Can it just leak around the tap or summat? There was definitely a little bit of petrol in the b...

Fuel petcock diaphragm

Anyone had the diaphragm in the fuel tap go on 'em? My Storm was running a bit crap below 4K rpm on a steady throttle, and I think it may be due to sucking air in through the vacuum hose to the petcock, as I found petrol in it when balancing the carbs. Furthermore, the vacuum reading for the rear cy...

Tony, I've had experience only with the GenMars, which raise the bars 19mm and give you a little more fore/aft angle adjustment. You can achieve the same thing by just raising your bars up the fork tubes. Some other options are to fit some bars off another bike. VFR ones fit and are slightly higher ...

Only problem is that it doesn't fit in the cockpit anywhere. Bu**er! So, I'm gonna have to make somesort of bracket I guess. :?
