Re: Water Gauge
Macdee sent me a replacement gauge and I eventually got round to fitting it - no difference, so I replaced the temperature sender on the thermostat housing and that has done the trick.

Re: Tents!
The 2/3 men tent description always makes me laugh. Usually they would have to be three very small friendly men who leave their kit outside! I use a three man tent just for me. Admittedly I take a big blow up mattress too....

Re: Manchester terror attack
So very sad can't even start to imagine what the families and friends are feeling , going through after another pointless attack as mentioned previously by a so called peaceful religion. Where are the leaders of this so called peaceful religion why don't they come forward to condemn these attacks o...

Bugger about the breakdown and good news about Carole Nash as I'm with them too, primarily for the European Breakdown cover.

Re: Potential sparkplug cap problem (and loud exhausts)
That white gunk looks like coolant, possibly coming from the carb heaters, all of which might point to badly seated carbs/air leaks. Whatever it is I don't think it's plugs and before you go pulling anything else apart, check where the white stuff is coming from and fix that.

Water Gauge
My water temp gauge has never moved a lot, but it isn't working properly now. I did remove the wires from the back, clean the contacts etc and also cleaned the connections the thermistor at the radiator end, but no change. Today was warm and I noticed in slow town running, stopped at the lights, the...

Re: Potential sparkplug cap problem (and loud exhausts)
After a few years the connection between the spark plug cap and the HD cable can get loose. Unscrew the cap from the lead, check for cracks in the boot. If all good then cut off about 5mm of the cable so that when you screw the cap back on it bites into the core. This might help and costs nothing to...

Re: Hypertension Anyone?
I used to have high blood pressure and was on Perindopril, which made me worse after 10 years. So, I self-diagnosed a sleeping disorder, took decongestants at night (followed by a sinus operation a few years later) I have always exercised quite a lot and used to smoke. I was always told that once on...

Re: London Terror Threat
Jo Cox's murderer wasn't a Muslim. I very much doubt that any of the nutters who carry out these acts have any understanding of Islam. I am anti-religious, but you can't "ban" religions - a few states tried that is the past. Did we try to ban Roman Catholicism because the IRA were ostensib...

Re: Oxford soft panniers with pillion
I did use Oxford panniers with a pillion but you will need to reinforce the side pod mountings. I used aluminium strip pop riveted on. On the rear rack I used a tailpack with just the light stuff in. I eventually bought some hard luggage and then bought a second bike for touring as it wasn't really ...

Re: Oxford soft panniers with pillion
They would be too far back and anyway the Renntec rack has a recommended carrying capacity of something daft like 3 kgs.
