Re: speed sensor URGENT
They don't work by permanent magnetism, its a side effect of energising a coil of wire in a metal container, its temporary otherwise we would all be replacing them after the winter layup!

Re: Speedo Healer
Also the tyre wear can effect the readings by a couple of percent, they all read faster than true speed as its not illegal to be over by 10% in this country (others vary but can be 5%) but it is illegal for a speedo to read less than the true speed. Then over 70mph linerarity errors really come into...

Re: Speed sensor - again
If you get the 0 to 5V pulse on the pink/green wire at the cluster end then its probably the speedo that needs replacing.

Re: speed sensor URGENT
Indeed there is, at the speed sensor connector there should be 12V, 5V and 0V, the 12v is battery voltage, the 5V is supplied by the speedo and 0v is GND. As the tooth on the gear passes the end of the sensor the 5V collapes and then energises again producing a pulse that the speedo reads. The servi...

Re: Latest DIY project - fuel gauge
re the sensor vs float.... my 19L had a wound rheostat and float, but the float had come off, therefore it was fkt. also, i looked at the rheostat and it seemed the wiring was goosed, sure enough when i put my fluke evo across it, i got no resistance. i fitted the old one off the 16L tank and it wo...

Re: Latest DIY project - fuel gauge
Hey, I'm interested in sticking a fuel gauge on my bike. After reading your post I was just wondering did you have to program the EEPROM yourself? I have a basic / intermediate knowledge of electronics but very basic when it comes to writing programs so my question is... Is it easy to do? lol Thank...
Re: Main beam
If you didnt fit a relay with the 100/120w bulb, chances are that something has melted.
Start looking at the 3 way connector that plugs into the bulb and work backwards.

10Ah is the standard battery but a 12Ah is a better choice

Latest DIY project - fuel gauge
Ok, here is my latest project which maybe of some use to pre '01 owners that have fitted a 19L tank (with the fuel level sensor) or for those with a 16L tank but want to add a float sensor.
