I always ride with my lights on, I like to be seen... but the one time I was in Spain on a shitty hire bike in the daytime, and had accidentaly switched the lights off. Harsh man. The Police usually use a local recovery company, that is who will have your bike. As said before they won't look at it, it will rest until either you or your insurance pick it up. Should be fine, long as your ins dont mind the cans, doubt the police will take much interest. Mine cartwheel...
