Re: thatcher

I've now been retired for 12 years, but I lived thro' the Thatcher years (and every other government since Atlee). In my opinion Margaret Thatcher was the best politician since the war by miles and miles. I have a lot of sympathy with the miners and others who lost their livelihood during the time s...

Re: Calne bike meet

Yep, they're a pain when they do that, cus starting them isn't easy!
Neither is it easy to get the clutch spot on - so it either slips, or drags in which case its usually impossible to find neutral without stalling.

They're not good in traffic!

Re: Where have the oldies gone - you know who you are

I remember that bridge. I thought, why is everybody slowing down, then decided to slow down myself, just in case they knew something I didn't. Predictably they did - and I was still going too fast when I saw all the black marks and scarred tarmac on the other side!! Luckily the storm kept its head, ...

Re: Where have the oldies gone - you know who you are

Thanks Chris,

Currently machining the cylinder head. Very slow going since I'm spending more time making special tools than actually doing the head!
Still, if I finish it OK I can probably do another and sell it.
Hope to see you at a meet this year somewhen.

Re: Where have the oldies gone - you know who you are

Hi all Was just ploddding round on one of my now quite rare visits and saw this thread. Good to see some of the "old" names. I've still got my battered SP, which is going well - 'specially since I fitted a new PC and de-activated the intake flap. Still riding my old Velocette KSS and worki...

Re: police, baffles, four and a half miles

Some things don't change.
Used to ride my bike to work/college in the early 60s and was stopped at least once a month for no apparent reason other than that I was on a bike, so must be up to no good!
When I switched to a car, never got stopped once until 1984 (106mph on A30 in Cornwall).

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Today I disconnected the airbox flapper valve on the SP. Then loaded a PCIII program which seemed closest.
Now its really sharp.
Good mod. Thanks guys.
