Guy I ride with just replaced his with an 03 R1 unit. He's very happy with it and it was still cheaper than the Honda unit.

He made a guide and posted it here. He also had to replace his stator at the same time.

I also wanted to express the outrage felt by most in the US over this terrible attack on innocent people. Most of the message boards that I frequent are clogged with messages about this and possible solutions, few of which are suitable for repeating.

I went with Racetech Springs and Valves on Roger's recommendation. Spent the weekend in the mountains of West Virginia. OMG, it's like a new bike. Now I realize how much the rear shock sucks. Anything stock bolt up or am I going to shell out the $$ for a penske? Wife won't allow that this year ;)

Fork modification

I am ordering hyperpro springs for my hawk (storm). I was going to also order the racetech valves, but read about drilling a relief hole in the cartridge body instead. I'm torn because I want to do this right. The drilling is much cheaper, but permanant and the valves are expensive and primarilly fo...

Finally heard back from Hyperpro. Seems that you guys in Europe are lucky enough to have a choice of Showa or Ohlins shocks from the factory. That's why the different part numbers, both show the same front fork spring though.

Springs confusion

I have decided that I want to go with hyperpro progressive springs and gold valves in my forks. So, I get on the hyperpro website http://www.hyperprousa.com and look up my springs and got this HONDA VTR 1000 F FIRESTORM 97-00> OHLINS Fork Springs SP-HO10-SSA004 Does that mean these are really ohlins...

010 on the front and 020 on the back. The 010 was discontinued though, so any you find are gonna be at least a year old.

I'm thinking about dunlop 208's for my next set though.

With a list like that, sounds like you'd be better off buying another bike on Ebay and using yours for a donor. I've seen several in the 3-4K range on there lately. Your list will easily top that.

Loving cold weather riding

Recently I had one of those moments. " A Moment of Clarity" or "A Zen Experience". It's been a while since I've had the feeling of calmness and tranquility where I could see and think clearly. Most times my mind is like scanning the a.m. radio dial. What brought me to this state ...

Check to see if it is charging. Your regulator may have given up the ghost.

31 a new personal low

Was out with some friends on some excellent local twisties. 20+ miles of good road, few cars, and no police. It runs through a forest. Ran it several times in both directions. I got some instruction from a rider much better than myself and it made all the difference in the world. I stopped using the...
