Re: Stormless

Hey Timbo, I think you're right - many people will disagree with you about it's looks. BUT I think here's as good a place as any to discuss that. You owned a few, you say, so why not tell us about the good and bad bits. I'm also in agreement with modern looks etc. I nearly saved for a few more month...

Re: Stormless

I suppose Honda's got it all sewn up really. If you want a small racer - CBR600RR If you want a big racer - CBR1000RR FireBlade If you want a tourer - VFR / V4 Where does the Firestorm really fit in? Actually as fashions go, we're back in the 80's now. So we need to hang onto the 'Storms for another...

Re: Please give me good news

Its the oldest answer in the book really, i 'suppose. Yes, technically it CAN be repaired. As long as it's in the tread pattern and not the walls of the tyre it should be ok. But then thats the rule for cars more than bikes. The tyre isn't under the same "weight" from a ton+ car but then i...

Re: Tank range

On my R ('98) it depends on how i've been riding. Around town the light comes on at about 90miles and if i've done a long blat up the motorway it usually comes on about 100 ish. Odd it's that way round! I can never fill it more than £14 though. And thats right up to the overflow point. Is that norm...

Re: was going so well!!

Try this one for a laugh: Simply pump their tyres up to 80psi, and watch them go straight on when they try to spin the tyres up at T junctions. Almost impossible to spot, and I'm not sure that you could be prosecuted for it, either.... Yeah, i think it's called attempted MURDER. Unless they are for...

See, I'm the nutball that went from a 125cc to a 998cc. I had the pick of the 600s but it was my instructor that told me to NOT be afraid of 'thou's. And I think, like you, i'm in love. Like you said she can be a difficult mistress, but then my girlfriend is 11 years younger than me and therefore eq...

Re: BA or Virgin to the USA

If you're flying to JFK then BA hedges it as they have the dedicated terminal and VERY nice lounges. Upper Class Virgin is about £300-£500 more than BA FIRST from my US experiences. But the upstairs bar (747-400) is cool enough to be in James Bond films so.........(grin) It is a real lottery as th...

Re: HELP!!! Lost Key, steering lock on WTF can I do?

How about the toolbox/ Snap-on chest? Done that before - opened up the toolkit and there was the set? Were you outside or in the garage? What else was around? Could it be in... 1- the documentation that was lying around? (Haynes manual etc) 2- Clothing? (my other favourite!) 3- If outside, kicked in...

Re: Carb balancing

Hi there,
I read it as there can be difference of 20mmHg between the front and rear. Phil VTwin and I just plaed around until the needles were in the same place. They were definately within the tolerance allowed!

Good luck.

Not got concrete proof, but i read that somewhere BP. Yep, I reckon it was sorted by deepening the underside and so the outer dimensionsremained the same.

Re: Oooo... sunshine.

Well done Mike,

unless you're 6 foot plus the tail-draggers are a problem. I'm 5'9" and landing is a real seat of the pants affair. I have to strain upwards over the console, just to see the threshold! have a go in a Cessna and it'll see like child's play....

God luck with it - keep it up.

Re: Braided hoses

If it gives you a benchmark..... ok i'm new to biking only had a couple of bikes over the past two years, but the Storm ('98 R) when pulled up properly sends the forks diving right down and the rear wheel squirming and even lifting on occassion (when really pushed!) So no, i'd say you're not expecti...
