Re: crash bobbins taken to extreme
I might have overdone it a bit typical tendency I have :wink2 If only I had thin walled seamless steel pipe it would be better - lighter and would look nicer. The bobbin mount plate itself only level with fairing width, so when on bike they seem to blend in - because lower link and lower mounts are ...

crash bobbins taken to extreme
Well, after much consideration and lot's of very good information received from fellow Stormers (thank guys) I went kinda mad and one weekend decided to try and build some kind of sophisticated cross between crashpads and crashbars :D Objectives were: distributing forces of impact to at least 3 poin...

Re: Touring Tyres for an Sp 2
I tried different tyres on different bikes and stopped search after switching to Continental Road Attack back - Continental Sport Attack front. Very confidence inspiring but at same time excellent wear resistance. And still "sharp" enough to enjoy corners. And very good in wet. I mean late...

Re: Performance
Tests back in 1998-99 listed figure of between 103 and 104.7 BHP on rear wheel of stock "old" model VTR. Honda data listed slightly lower figures for VTR as of about 2000 comparing to pre-2000 model. I also noticed some subtle changes to specific settings of carbs and ignition of older and...

Re: Roads still not at their best , trust me!
this is one of very few parts on Storm that are cast magnesium alloy.
You can plug it with various substances but it won't be perfect.
You can weld it but you need guy who knows that he is doing VERY well.
Buy one off eBay and stick carbon cover on it. This is route I am taking.

Re: Roads still not at their best , trust me!
I found that the rear brake lever snapped when I tried to straighten mine, hope you have better luck. Once you've repaired your cover, you could stick on a Carbonadi one: http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt250/VTaRse/006.jpg?t=1267533279 Covers up the scraped one nicely, and protects the case a l...

WAIT! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Do not attempt to straighten lever cold. Put it on gas cooker for as long as you dare and then straighten it easily. It works, believe me - mine restored like that 2 times (each time different place of bend).

Pete, I kinda agree - they kinda ugly :) in attractive way. You know - typical brutal look of old-style Dakar racer! Have you seen Dakar DR ridden by Gaston Rahier? I can post some photos...It was amazingly close technically to stock. I actually deliberatly keep old scratched plastics on - it works ...

Re: VTR with luggage
Wow! Those are properly big panniers! Is that 45-54 liters? Kappa? Did you made racks yourself? I guess they sticking fair bit wider than 80 cm...I found myself that for me over 85 cm starts to give me troubles in traffic filtering... You know that Givi now have "flat" panniers, 19 cm deep...

Re: VTR with luggage
Ha! I'd just crank up settings on my all-singing fully adjustable Wilbers shock :cool2 No, to be serious - they are not big panniers, smaller than most people fit, but look bigger from side because they are less than 20 cm deep. And I never load more than 10 kg per box even on DR... I'm curio...

VTR with luggage
Ok, this are same pannier I use on my DR800 - now easily attacheable to VTR. 30 liter each, overall width of bike with them at rear - 800 mm Rack is made by bolting self-made adaptors to accept Aprilia Pegaso panniers to Nonfango racks which I got off eBay. New. Project cost: panniers 99 euro per pa...

My other bike
So, I promised to post photos of my DR Hyde :) Here goes. Notice scratched plastics and worn crashbars - I deliberately keep it this way. Under plastic bike is perfectly cleaned, frame polished and painted with special paints etc .etc. Plastic bits on DR is just for looks, they hold no function at a...
