Re: Few learnings from latest tour

Re: I can categorically state...
Try MotoMorini. Any. Corsaro best. Different world of Vtwins. I totally lust after Granpasso. Pity I have no spare 10 grand Euro, otherwise I'd have one in jiffy. But that engine is incredible. Just incredible. Ducatis are cool, Aprilias OK, bit MM just mad. And suprisingly reliable. And HUGE fuel ...

Few learnings from latest tour
I just realized there was couple of things that seem to be worthy of sharing.\ Since my latest tour was definitely..ahm...on let say fast side of riding...no officer, only on closed roads...ahm.. Anyway, we had very aggressive riding and things learned: 1. I changed Dot 4 to Dot 5.1 in brakes before ...

Re: Switzerland, Austria, Italy 8 days ride
Timbo, we did not go to Bolzano - we avoided all towns we can avoid. But we certainly been close. Basically on Saturday June 26 we been riding Swiss mountain passes, leaving Zurich area in the morning and ending in Bregenz late evening. Then from Bregenz we went east-south, then to Italy, then back ...

Re: Switzerland, Austria, Italy 8 days ride
Basically we did not had "base", we kinda ride through with some rounds :) I think on map our route will look totally mad :) To be honest hairpins as such I do not like and I am not very fast in them, I mean like real hairpins 180+ degrees with drops etc. I just do not know proper way of riding them ...

Switzerland, Austria, Italy 8 days ride
Just back from my rideout to Switzerland, Austria and Italy mountains. Fantastic week, very hard riding, incredible roads. Few conclusions. Continental Road attack at the rear did not hold it. Got burned once (Saint Bernardino pass, swiss side), surface ripped on other rides, shavings on surface ...

Re: Fuel Consumption
I found that cleaningness of air filter have tremendous effect of Storm fuel consumption.
With relatively new filter I am easily doing 200 km to reserve + 40 km on reserve on 97 storm with 04 fuel tank (19 liter) and Arrow race cans.
I am not big fan of KN filters, so I keep on running stock filters.

Re: Oil consumption
Do not want to open Pandora box of "which oil"
but I must mention that using fully mineral oil increases chances of more consumption in case bike spends a lot of time in heavy traffic, e.g. filtering and generally low speed-high temp riding.
OK, OK, I'll shut up now

Re: Oil consumption
Mine is 97 model with 60 000 km on the clock. No top ups. I just change oil every 6000 km and did not notice more than 100-200 ml oil loss, but level still OK anyway.

Re: single sided swing arm conversion stage 2
Interesting that nobody mentiones that it extends wheel base and does not add much rigidity to rear end. And does not save weight. Functionally braced swingarm works way better. Visually single-sided looks brilliant, must admit. I generally love when people not afraid to modify bikes "big way" so ...

Re: Crash bungs
Well...not that you can buy these - but here is my take on making crash protectors myself. Added carbon cover for clutch cover as it is inevitably get's some impact... They fix to 3d frames that fixed to 2 engine bolts and have support (not bolted to) frame connecting beam. E.g. spreading impact to ...

Re: Gsxr600 k6 anyone riden one????
I did not own it, but my very good friend owns one from time he bought it new. It was not expensive to run, quite straightforward to maintain and as for revving his favourite gear is 1st. No kidding. It goes up to like 90 mph in first. However, he had some issues with it. Something that Suzuki built ...

Re: Your current views re: tyres, May 2010...?
I know I am not helping :D but I still use Conti Road Attack rear and Sport Attack combo front and entirely happy with them. I never saw them wearing way yours wore to be honest... I tried venerable Dunlop Sportmax...mmm...207? 208? on VTR and must admit they were suprisingly good. I mean - if you ...

Re: what shock
I know this may get a lot of heated replies, but: My humble view is that unless you are a serious track day fast group rider, you dont need an all singing, all dancing multi adjustable shock on a Storm..........It already has too much frame and swingarm flex, and will never be a fireBlade.....and ...

Re: what shock
I ashamed to admit it  but I have progressive springs in my Storm and they match performance of shock very well. But my forks alse revalved and different oil used. Reason being - I ride on any kind of roads and surface...let say far from good. I used Hyperpro springs because unlike most of ...
