Tattie, my personal preference would be chip-pan grease, but if you want the bearings to stay in place then I suggest you use 'extra hold' grease. Something like Brillcream or Dax might do the job!

Nice one Pete - that sounds about right. Still though, there've been a load of instances where it didn't happen, the only thing that was different these two times was the fact that I had a full tank - I wonder if that has any significance.

Two weeks ago, I filled the bike at the local garage, found out I had forgotten my phone/wallet etc so tore back to the house to get them...
