Re: Tyres: Avon Sport / Pirelli Diablo / Maxxis / Bridgeston

I've done about 1k miles on the Supermaxxes and they're fine - they make the Storm feel much quicker to drop in to turns, and seem plenty grippy. But the bike feels noticably more squirrely holding a line in bends - I wonder if its just that they are that much more sensitive and the shortcomings in ...

Re: Speed sensor - again

Cheers for that Wicky, very useful to know. I've metered out the connections as per the system inspection in the manual, and again for the speed sensor itself, and all the readings seem ok. :confused Anything else I can check before trying a different sensor? (big thanks to Benny for the loan of one)

Re: Speed sensor - again

Cheers Tony - I'll go & have a poke about with the meter again, maybe in a rather less half-assed way than last time

Re: Mid Wales July 6-8th. Names.

Hi ABB - looks like I'll be free then - fingers crossed - and would be great to hook up with a few Stormers. I have to be back in N Wales Wed pm but my run home might fit in with some of your northwards loop anyway. I've got a mate in Bristol with a silver Storm - might be able to coax her out too.

Speed sensor - again

My speedo has died again after sulking, then coming back to life for a while. No joy on ebay etc - does anyone know whether there is any interchangeableness between other Honda sensors before I shell out £112+vat :eek2 at David Silvers?

Re: New tyres - what a difference

maybe theyre like a dual compound with a stiffer band in the middle for better lifespan?? or maybe you should just pull over when you feel the urge to impersonate the king :biggrin With these 'ere bumpy roads its usually the Pete Townsend routine :eek2 http://img.allposters.com/6/LRG/26/2657/RVQMD0...

Re: New tyres - what a difference

No spacers fitted, the suspension is completely stock (but next thing to do) I don't know a huge amount about different tyre characteristics but the contrast in the feel of the bike between these and the old Contis is very marked - and I'm not sure whether I really like it or its a bit worrying.. Th...

They are gorgeous aren't they. I get more comments about mine than the rest of the bike. There's a particularly resonant frequency that makes you feel like your bowels are loosening :eek2
Bike looks lush Chris!

Re: New tyres - what a difference

Overconfident?? It was a big ol' stable battlecruiser before, now its a frolicing leany thing! I think I'm scared to go near it!
Is this just how it should be, or are the Supermaxxes particularly exuberant?

Re: Hi - New to Bikes and Firestorms!

Welcome Rob - I can vouch for the Storm's userfriendliness having got mine exactly a year after passing my test. Only thing I found was that the bike can instill a bit too much confidence - you don't have to think too much about what gear you're in, and the temptation to rush an iffy overtake needs ...

New tyres - what a difference

Just changed the Conti something-or-others that came with my bike. They had seemed fine to me, but being the only Storm I'd ridden there wasn't anything to compare them to - everyone says the bike can be a bit slow to get turned in. I thought it was just part of the Storm's character - a burly shove...

Re: Scotland tour - routes and accom advice?

Just back from a long weekend up in the West in the car - the first time back up there since having a bike, so I was thinking about the riding. It struck me that the A82 from Crianlarich to Ft Willam would be a bit dull to ride unless you were happy to just cruise. Of course the landscape is fabulou...

Yellow Storm on Skye

Heading west on the A87 on Sunday evening, with a red Blade. Passed us after leaving the island & we followed them to the Fort William turn. They didn't look too impressed by the scabby road surface, and didn't blame them - I was glad to be in the car for once!
