Re: newbie from cambridge

Hi Alan - fellow firestorm newbie here and doing a recommisson my self, including tyres. There will be as many recommendations as replies I guess and not really any poor tyres anymore, but for me Michelin Pilot Power 2CT is all the tyre you will ever need for the road. Just had a pair delivered at £1...

Re: North West newbie

After a bit of practice with the scrap CCT which involved lots of filing to get stoppers square I just got various lengths cut in advance properly at a local engineering firm. £10 well spent I reckon. Someone has at least had the carbs off before so hopefully valve clearances ok and might even find ...

Re: North West newbie

Getting there - all fluids changed, new battery and Reg/Rec, now getting towards valve clearance check and stopper mod, will balance carbs on way back up.

Re: Shock Re-furb ?

Cheers - I searched MCT but didn't give any results.

Looks like it's them again then.

My anticipated simple re-fresh of the fluids and new tyres has grown arms and legs...but will get it all done this winter

Shock Re-furb ?

Having decided to go for the revolution racing fork upgrade as part of re-commissioning a 2001 bike over the winter, I guess I will need to think about the shock. On quite a few bikes I have always been happy with having MCT do a service/re valve and coming in at circa £130 always seemed a good valu...

Spring change and quite likely Roger mod has made it to re-commission list.

Re: Worth replacing fork springs?

Been looking at the do it yourself post on the Revolution Fork Tuning mod (used to visit his workshop as local to me, but alas I think now retired) and a little wary of the grinding down and drilling. For an acceptable street set up I am thinking just to do the linear springs, oil, air gap and adjus...

Re: Worth replacing fork springs?

First 2 are sellers pics, he got the bike along with a collection of 6 vintage british bikes, he thinks the firestorm was the one that the owner rode but its been sat in a heated garage for 6 years and only 500 miles since 2010. I saw a few and this was by far the best. https://i.imgur.com/vUKJypsl....

Re: Worth replacing fork springs?

Maybe it's already been done? Disassemble first and see. After 6 years idle I am sure that there are other things that require attention first. Also does it have manual cam chain Tensioners, if not that is the first job at hand. Any mods been done to her ? Can you post some pics ? I think totally s...

Worth replacing fork springs?

Just bought a 2001 firestorm which has sat for 6 years and will re-commission over the winter. Beginning to get some parts and fluids together and will change fork oil - while I am at it and forks are out would replacement springs be sensible?? Have not ridden it yet and won’t before next year, but ...

Seat Cowl Fittings

Have found a new old stock OEM cowl for sale in my bikes colour but doesnt seem to come with any fixings, just the plastic cowl and cant imagine these sort of slide on but may be wrong. Should the Honda cowl come with some fixings ? Thanks
